#4 EWU vs. Northern Colorado GDT

The 24 hr glow is not over yet but I am ready to move on. Was it an upset for them to beat NAU? The Jacks were playing without their QB Cookus. The Bears are one of 4 undefeated teams in the Sky now.

It was an upset, but not a surprising one. When Cookus went down against us, their offense turned to shambles. Cookus carries their team.

EWU will run circles around the Bears.

The UNC Bears will be dazed and confused come 6pm 10/8

The Bears are young, but talented at the skill positions. I'd guess they're also playing with some confidence.

UNC is pretty good this year! If we go to sleep like we did in the second against Davis they could definitely give present some problems. No mental let downs this game!

This game makes more nervous than I would want. Eastern is most certainly a better team but I don't think UNC is a cupcake either! I hope that we've learned from yesterday's 2nd quarter debacle, but if we see another stretch like that, we could get nipped! If we play to potential for 4 full quarters, then we run away.

I agree with this, though I tend to get nervous about every game! They will have a chip on their shoulder and confidence based on their game against us last year, and beating NAU.

But it seems that this team is focused most of the time, and if they lose focus for a half, our coaches have a remarkable knack for getting things on track for the second half...A quality a remember as a strong feature of the 2010 season.

UNC isn't comparable to anything resembling a good team. Not to say they won't show up with every intention of making it a game. Does anyone think this past week's experience against a poor UC Davis team wasn't a lesson learned? Not to mention the late escape against UNC last season.

Look, worry all you want, but no amount of lipstick on UNC is going to make them a threat to this team with two weeks at home to rest, heal and focus. In one breath most recognize this is a special team for a multitude of reasons (leadership, maturity, focus, TALENT, etc) and in the other prefer to play devil's advocate for overmatched opponents. I have been waiting for at least three years for this team to embrace their talent and am excited to see it on the field. Go Eags!

Impose your will on the hapless Bears.

Two weeks? Ewu schedule says the bye comes after UNC

Gotta say, I agree with you though. UNC is always a bottom tier team and occasionally they get to strut a decent team. This is not one of those years. They are not a good team.

NAU was without their star and we saw how sad of an offense they were during the fourth quarter of our match. Yet, NAU managed to put up 500 yards against UNC. The bears only put up 260. The difference? NAU coughed up 3 turnovers.

If NAU can hold UNC to 260 yards, we can hold them to 200. If NAU can put up 500 yards, we can put up 750. I don't understand how people could let themselves get stressed over such a trivial team. Save your fingernails for the Grizzlies.

I wouldn't call Northern Colorado hapless, but they aren't anything to fear. However, at 3-1, they probably feel pretty good about themselves and a confident team can be a dangerous team. They've also won a couple of close ones, so they won't feel demoralized if they get behind early.

If Eastern comes out with fire and intensity, this should be a fairly easy win. However, if we revisit the team that showed up in the first half yesterday or two weeks ago against UNI, this might be a toss-up. If the team that played in the second half of those games shows up, we should be playing reserves midway through the third quarter.

We've had a habit of playing just a little better than our opponent for several years, and that's cost us some games we should've won. I'd love to show we've gotten past bad habits and put our foot on their throats early and give them a good ol' fashioned curbstomping.

I wasn't worried about UC Davis at all...and then I was so pissed at halftime for them being in the game, and seeming to solve our offense. There are many games in which an overmatched opponent makes it a contest. If EWU learned that lesson from UC Davis, the Eagles won't lose another game, IMO.

Talent wise this shouldn't be a close game, but we shouldn't have been behind at half time against UC Davis either.

I'm going to be there with a large group from work, and lots of family so Gage and Kupp should put on a show for us!

49-21 EWU, last 14 points scored in the 4th quarter for UNC.

They were home last week Rjones. That counts as two contiguous weeks at home. I am saying that back to back weeks at home will make any challenge UNC may put up nigh on meaningless as our players can do homework, sleep in their own beds and eat with friends to recover from the brutal schedule to date.

Nice stats on the UNC v. NAU game. Revealing for sure. Like you, I just expect the best from our team and don't find baseless "what if's" meaningful. UNC isn't Montana, NDSU or UW.

Perhaps some of you misunderstood my statements. I do not believe Northern Colorado has a good chance of coming in here and beating this team. However, IF we play like we did in the 2nd quarter against UC Davis, then Northern Colorado is going to be in this game. I certainly do not EXPECT that to happen, but I think Northern Colorado is better than UC Davis and that game was ugly at half.

A full four quarters from the boys, and this game isn't within 4 TD's.

Ah, I see your point now. It sounded a lot like bye week rhetoric. Traveling is hard on the young men, for sure, and it must feel good to be staying home for a full three three weeks.
