#4 EWU vs. Northern Colorado GDT

Perhaps some of you misunderstood my statements. I do not believe Northern Colorado has a good chance of coming in here and beating this team. However, IF we play like we did in the 2nd quarter against UC Davis, then Northern Colorado is going to be in this game. I certainly do not EXPECT that to happen, but I think Northern Colorado is better than UC Davis and that game was ugly at half.

A full four quarters from the boys, and this game isn't within 4 TD's.

I totally hear what you're saying and agree. We've been too much Jekyll and Hyde this season. If we come out and play a full 60 minutes at our best, we clobber them. But we haven't looked all that great in a first half yet, and coming out on fire has to be the main focus point of the week. UNC only put up 21 at home versus NAU, so it's probable that their offense isn't very good (yes, I know they hung a lot on Abilene Christian, but not sure that means much).

The last thing I'd want--- well, first and foremost, the worst thing would be to lose--- but beyond that, I don't want this game competitive at halftime. We need to improve at playing the whole game like we've been playing in second halves. It would be nice for all 3 QBs to get some time as well as being deep into rotation during the second half.

The bye comes the week before the MSU game, although I wish it were a week later. :D

Playing MSU this year basically gives us back to back BYE weeks...they aren't very good

I've followed this team for a long time, and I don't ever remember putting a spanking on MSU in Bozeman. While we have found ways to beat the Bobcats most of the time, Bozeman is always a fortress for MSU and they are a lot better in Bozeman than on the road. Bozeman is higher than normal elevation (close to 5,000), tends to be cold and windy (not unlike Cheney), and they have a good home crowd.

2008. Nichols' first year starting I think. Eagles beat the Cats 34-17 in Bozeman and held them to 3 points in the second half. We are 29-10 all time against MSU, and 11-4 in the last 15. At some point, you have to expect this Eagles team to beat the Montana States of the Big Sky. For me this time is now. I was at the NAU game. Big crowd, 7000 feet. Didn't make a big difference. Neither did the wind last Saturday. I expect this team will run away from the Bears and Bobcats.

I get where you are coming from, but MSU has at least been Decent for the past decade, this year they aren't. They have one D1 win, which was over Bryant, and they just lost to a really bad Sac State team. We shouldn't have any problems in that game, especially coming off of a BYE week.

Msu's three losses were by only 8 pts total. They could have easily won all three..in Bozeman concerns me.

True but their only D1 win was a 3 point home victory over Bryant, they could easily be 1-4 as well. We should dominate that game, especially coming off a bye.

UNC isn't comparable to anything resembling a good team. Not to say they won't show up with every intention of making it a game. Does anyone think this past week's experience against a poor UC Davis team wasn't a lesson learned? Not to mention the late escape against UNC last season.

Look, worry all you want, but no amount of lipstick on UNC is going to make them a threat to this team with two weeks at home to rest, heal and focus. In one breath most recognize this is a special team for a multitude of reasons (leadership, maturity, focus, TALENT, etc) and in the other prefer to play devil's advocate for overmatched opponents. I have been waiting for at least three years for this team to embrace their talent and am excited to see it on the field. Go Eags!

Impose your will on the hapless Bears.

Geesh, so when did Eagles fans turn into Griz fans? Arrogant a bit? You barely escaped with a W last year in Greeley and we're much improved from that squad. I think UNC will have to play a near-perfect game, but EWU isn't Alabama. Football is a strange game, and an upset isn't out of the question.

I don't know what is up with everyone the last 2 weeks. This is a greatly improved EWU team and we definitely expect W's in Cheney. I remember nearly pooping my pants last year against UNC, and I also know that every team in the Big Sky brings 110% against EWU. Lastly, I know EWU tends to drop 1 head scratcher every year, so upsets are definitely in the picture...but in general I'm more concerned with the Griz and the Vikings compared to everyone else.

Either way I'm hoping for an entertaining game!

Are you going to make it up?

I don't think overlooking UNC is wise and I don't think the team or coaches will do that. Fans tend to see things differently than reality, and I'm sometimes guilty of that as well. EWU is much better than they were last year when we made the trip to Greely. UNC may be better as well, because to be honest, I don't know much about you. Regardless, UNC always seems to play EWU tough, even during the years that we're a superior team i.e. 2010, 2011 and to some extent 2015.

With all that said, if EWU plays to its potential, this game likely won't stay close to long. That's not a knock on UNC, it's more a testament to how good I think EWU is this season. We'll see...good luck to UNC the rest of the season!

LOL. :crybaby: I mentioned the Bears will show up intending to make this a game and choose to see the game from last year as a reminder to our team what can happen when they lose focus. Any comparison beyond that is a pure choom fantasy. This year's Eag's are a superior team in every way to the product on the field last year. Smack talk is what it is, in the end it is all settled on the field.

thems fightin' words 'round here.

but in all seriousness, that is a stretch. Most EWU fans are very reasonable but we have big expectations for this team and not without reason.

montana fans, completely different story. Some great ones out there but the online personas are generally the worst. they are arrogant, but for no reason. Haven't won a conference title since 2009 and have been bounced early from the playoffs the times they have actually made it.

as for unc, we should be concerned with any team that runs the ball well and your team appears to do it very well. I expect that the bears will have a similar game plan as last year and it could work. I do think EWU is the better team and should find a way to win this one at home.
