4th quarter play calling

Love that we can all second guess the coaching decisions and strategies after a win... Baldwin's 50th in less than 6 seasons! It's ok to have an opinion and express it but let's acknowledge there's a reason they're doing what they're doing and we're on a message board. :D

Well said.

I'm sure some if not most have probably heard this interview, but here's coach Baldwin talking about the game, Adams' hit on Tripp, and the 4th quarter play calling and whether or not he took his foot off the gas:

As I watched the game again, (for the 3rd time  ) I don't think it was as much letting off or prevent defense as much as conditioning. Our D-line was just gassed and didn't have the energy they did in the first three qtrs. and were not putting pressure on JJ. That gave them some offensive success and they took momentum of the game. Everyone was trying hard, sometimes too hard by making bad pass, that gave them more mo and short field.
Kind of the perfect storm.

Kind of wondering if one of the Offensive Guards like big David or Murphy are practicing with the defense. Defensive Tackle is really getting thin.....

Felt like Beau started running the ball too early out of 2TE sets where it was obvious what was coming.

Agreed on getting away from the no huddle and working the clock, but stay in the spread. Without their best CB, they flat out couldn't cover EWUs WRs. If they went zone, Adams picked them apart, if UM went press and blitzed EWU had mismatches all over the field. Case in point the TD to Hill where they had a LB on him.

Saturday was a great learning experience that no lead is ever safe on the road against a quality opponent. Cal Poly will be another road test.

Having said that, was waiting for UM to make their run and they did in the 4th. The missed FG was huge.

So much for EWU having issues with young WRs this year. Kupp could end up breaking Kaufman's records by the time he's done.

GO EAGS
Spot on. Anthony "chief" Goodwin was out and it put us in a predicament. I thought you curled up and tried to let us back in the game. Snapping the ball with 6-11 seconds left on the clock wasn't coherently managed either. However a road win is a WIN. No shocker to me if we play again this year. Good Luck!

excellent interview.....talked about all the points that made the game.
really like baldwin as a coach, even after the win he is willing to take "ownership" of making his team better where he thought he had not done as good of job. outstanding
