I must say I am VERY excited to be coming back to Ogden for this event. I hope that one day they name the court after me, I can hear it now "Larry Farmer Court @ the Dee Events Center" :thumb:

Hey basketball fans... This is a very unique and exciting opportunity. I have heard that a lot of the greats are going to be coming back to Ogden to take part in this activity. I do know for a fact that it'll be the first time ever that Dick Motta, Phil Johnson, Gene Vischer, Neil McCarthy will all be together in the same room, at Weber State. Also, Bruce Collins, Brady Small, Mark Mattos, Jimmy Watts, Stan Mayhew, Randy Worster, Walt Tyler, David Johnson, Al DeWitt, Ryan Cuff, Alan Campbell, David Patten, Nic Sparrow, Al Hamilton, and many more will be in attendance at the event. NEVER AGAIN will something of this magnititude be available for the ultimate Weber State fan. I can't believe there isn't more excitment. THIS IS THE REASON WHY WEBER HAS THE 22 highest winning % in the NCAA. 26 --20 win seasons, 19 Big Sky Championships...Wins in the NCAA Tournament...etc etc etc. As a basketball fan and a loyal Wildcat...I'm definitely going to be at the event.

Athletics is trying to bring in as many of these guys as possible. It'll be a really cool activity to attend on Friday.

I'm excited for the event and will have the privilege of interviewing many of them, including Dick Motta, Phil Johnson, Gene Visscher, Ron Abegglen and Bruce Collins.

However, am I the only one who is miffed about Damien Baskerville not making the list? :ohno:

That is quite a list of great players. It's amazing to think of all these great players who wore a Weber State uniform and that we've been able to watch play and cheer for. This is a history and tradition to be proud of for sure. Damien Baskerville, hmmmm..... This list could probably have been expanded to 60 or more with all the great players that have come through the school.

The event friday night would be a lot of fun to attend. Wish I were in town to go.

Anyone attending? If so, we need a full report from the friday night event posted to this blog!

The press release mentions a book and DVD available to those attending friday night. Does anyone know if these items will be sold to the public also? I'd love to get a few copies of each.

My only complaint is that a lot of these guys only played two years, or in the case of Stan Rose, one year. They are all great players, and many of those that only played two years do deserve to be there, but a few more of the four year guys should have been there. Certainly Bullinger comes to mind. He committed out of high school, played four years, and was the kind of person and player that makes you proud of the program.

The list looks like they relied heavily on Brad Larsen to get the top 50. There are many players, in addition, who are deserving and didn't make the list. Such is the case with a list like this. It probably comes down to just a few people's opinions. 80% of those names would be on everyone's list. The 20% is where the debate comes in. We have had so many great players come through Weber State. We are truely blessed. :twocents:

Zona...I'll be at the function on Friday. I'll be sure to have a full write up about the fuction at some point after.

As for Baskerville...he was a great player on the court, but off it, he did some rather interesting things. That might have been the reason behind him not getting the nod. As for some other players...I'm pretty bummed that Bullinger isn't on the list. I do know that one of the requisites for making the list was being a 1st teamer, which doesn't help out the Cats since Weber has had...I believe close to 80. Anyway...this is a very cool activity and I'm really glad that I'm going to it.

there so SO MANY good players some have to get screwed over.

but the bull example lets see...

1. only didnt play as a true fresh because of ankle injury
2. started all 31 games as a fresh, 1st to do that in many years
3. made Big Sky All-Conference Honorable Mention as a freshman
4. Helped WSU to a 15-1 Big Sky record, 2nd best in conference history at the time
5. by his soph yr he was part of back to back big sky titles
6. Big Sky All-Conference First Team selection as a junior
7. 4 year starter, first one in maybe 15+ yrs.
8. Lowe's Senior CLASS Ward Nominee as a senior then got injured
9. as a senior before the injury had a wsu record for consecutive games played or starts over 100+.
10. 13th in WSU history for career rebounds, 577
11. 6th in WSU history for career 3's with 150
12. 22nd in WSU history for career points with 1,042 (only 25 WSU players have ever scored 1,000)

overall pretty impressive especially with the worst injury i have ever seen in basketball, missed 9 games, then came back but was probably never more than 50% health. had he never been injured he would have made another all conf selection, 10 top in wsu career scoring and 5th for all time 3's. but injuries are just part of the game and obviously affect stuff like this list all the time.

i bet we could make a list like this for others. having so many greats is really cool.

The more I think about it, the more it bothers me that two on the list (Rose and Mayhew) only played one season. They were great players, but didn't contribute near as much to the program as a guy like Bull did. There should have been a requirement that you played at least two seasons, IMO.

I saw 20 of these players play, going back to Rico.

My top 5 of those I saw play:

1. Lillard
2. Boyette
3. Arceneaux
4. Gill
5. Degraffenried

why did rose only play 1 season? he does have some legit scoring records.

Single Season Field Goal Percentage
1. Stan Rose 62% 1992-93

Single Season Points
4. Stan Rose 650 1992-93

Single Game Points
5. Stan Rose 38 1993 (@ EWU)

Single Season Free Throws Made
5. Stan Rose 170 92-93
Willie Sojourner 170 68-69

Single Season Scoring Average
1. Damian Lillard 24.5 11-12
2. Stan Rose 23.2 92-93

in 1992-93 we tied for 2nd place, 1 game out of first, we had a 20-8 record.

Rose was a transfer and only had one season of eligibility when he came here. He played two years at Utah Valley and one at Alabama-Birmingham.
