A Big Rule that "Modern" Coaches Violate on a Regular Basis....

An important rule of Quarterback Generalship that's violated at will today, to the violator's own detriment...particularly by Kliff Kingsbury. We see this way too often in college ball, and even the Big Sky, too....

"Failure to punt on fourth down, outside scoring territory, is a critical error that can and does lose football games."

The late Don Fuoss was a genius at football strategy. His credentials:

I knew Don Fuoss personally for many years…great guy and entertaining as hell. Only SH 2.0 and Don thought he was a genius at football strategy. Just saying.

I had the good fortune of taking a coaching class from Dr. Fuoss. It was the only early morning class that I looked forward to! The guy was a font of knowledge about all aspects of coaching and life in general. I remember him sharing his experiences at the schools mentioned, he was also the HC at
Catawba College and the defensive coordinator for the 1966 Purdue team with Bob Griese at QB which beat USC in the 1967 Rose Bowl.
Dr. Fuoss wrote a number of books including Blueprinting Your Coaching Career. One of the most fondly remembered professors that I had at Sac State!

Don coached both the offensive and defensive lines at Purdue but he never once shared with me that he was the defensive coordinator and as I shared earlier I knew him for a long time. I’m sure his class was very enjoyable and entertaining and I’m glad you have fond memories of him. He was an exceedingly unique character.
