A Call for Civility on the Forums

This whole argument about who is posting from one IP address or another is rigoddamndiculous. I remember longtimecat was accused from being a poster from Idaho and West Virginia, don't know how that is possible, but I know the guy, he lives in Clearfield and has been a Wildcat fan longer than I have even been alive and I am 29.

This IP address stalking thing is stupid. Im sure even my IP address changes from time to time.

02 was merely trying to show us that some posters will create multiple accounts to sway an opinion. Not saying that AJ is up to something malicious. I pretty sure he isn't. However, we do need to maintain the integrity of the forum. We were all trolled by someone from Colorado a few years back who had four/five accounts. If he/she really wanted to drive home their point he/she would post virtually the same thing from multiple names. If someone dared to disagree, then he/she would gang up on single posters using his/her multiple accounts to bully the person off the thread. It got really pathetic. So, like a moderator should, 02 is doing what he can to mitigate that issue from happening again. A number of good posters left the forum because of that episode and we don't want to see that again. Internet bullying does exist. It is very easy to bully someone from the anonymity of a keyboard.

As long as you bring an opinion and are respectful...then I don't mind what you have to add to this forum. There are number of things I don't agree with that are posted. Either I don't respond or I respectfully debate the point. No matter, 02 was just trying to protect the integrity of the board.

What is neat...when was the last time we got to two pages on the smack talk thread?

Looking up an IP Address doesn't do you a lot of good when you can live in Utah and your IP Address says your in Idaho or California or Colorado etc... :coffee: Doesn't seem very effective.

I would lock or delete this stupid thread BUT I dont want anyone to get butt hurt over that again.

One more point, I have been accused of living in two different places myself. Idaho and DC I believe. Someone has some bad Intel or is just plain nuts. Sincerely proud Weber fan from Davis county.

 Oh, I'm glad I made the once in a blue moon stroll to this forum, I needed the laugh

What started as a great thread (thanks '02) turned stupid really fast, almost as stupid as the justification for moving any "Fire Rahe" thread out of the "Basketball" forum. I'm trying to understand the point of view that a topic related to the Head Basketball Coach isn't basketball related. I'll bet there are other threads on the basketball forum that could be moved based on the same rational. Anyway, count me as another one who sees this as a varied form of censorship since we all know few care much about this forum or are going to think to look here for a basketball related topic. It's a fan forum, what's the hangup with letting all fans easily see and discuss what they want to as long as it's civil and within the acceptable use outline.

Well stated, tal, the integrity of the board should be protected and if a basketball topic is just too emotionally upsetting to some, they really should simply ignore the thread.
