A Great Three/Four Seasons...

Now that the women's Big Sky basketball season is over with Northern Colorado's loss, I thought some of the following news, notes, facts and factoids (with apologies to Brad! LOL) would be of interest to the fans.

The last three / four seasons have been very, very good for the Bengals, especially when you compare it to the other Big Sky teams.

Here is what the numbers say:

# ISU has won 60 games over the past three seasons (18 wins, 24, 18). They have averaged 20 wins a year for the past three years. First time in school history that has taken place.

# ISU made the post season in consecutive years for the first time under Seton and for only the second time in school history. They went to the NCAA’s and WNIT in consecutive seasons.

# ISU made the Big Sky Conference post season tournament for the 10th straight year (school record) and the 5th straight season under Seton. The 10 straight appearances is the second longest current active streak in the conference. (Only Montana has a longer run.)

# ISU had their 3rd straight winning season overall and their 4th straight winning record in the Big Sky Conference.

# ISU’s overall record is 60-33 the past three seasons. That’s a .645 winning percentage. That’s the best record in the Big Sky Conference over the past three years. Here is the other conference team records in that same span by wins:

Idaho State 60-33 .645
Montana 58-37 .610
No. Colorado 58-40 .591
Montana St. 53-38 .582
East. Wash. 48-45 .516
Port. State 47-43 .522
No. Dakota 47-45 .510
So. Utah 37-53 .411
Sacramento St. 36-55 .395
No. Arizona 28-59 .321
Weber St. 9-77 .081

ISU’s record in that span wasn’t built on weak competition either. In the last three years in addition to games against Big Sky opponents, ISU has played Kansas State, Kansas, Boise State, South Dakota, Nebraska, Arizona State, Texas El-Paso, Tennessee Chattanooga, Tulane, South Florida, Utah State, Utah, Loyola Marymount, Texas Tech and Texas.

# ISU’s overall conference record is 38-18 the past three seasons. That’s a .678 winning percentage. That’s the 3rd best record in the Big Sky Conference over the past three years in terms of wins and winning percentage. Here are the other conference teams. NOTE: Conference wins and losses includes all regular season AND postseason games.

No. Colorado 41-17 .706
Montana 40-18 .689
Idaho St. 38-18 .678
East. Wash. 34-23 .596
Montana St. 33-23 .589
Port. State 26-28 .481
So. Utah 9-12 .428
Sacramento St. 23-33 .410
No. Arizona 17-35 .326
No. Dakota 6-14 .300
Weber St. 3-49 .005

# ISU’s home record is 45-9 the past four years. That’s an .833 winning percentage. That’s the best record in the Big Sky Conference over the past four years.

Idaho State 45- 9 .833
No. Colorado 43-12 .781
Montana 45-16 .737
Portland St. 40-19 .677
East. Wash. 38-19 .666
No. Dakota 35-19 .648
Montana St. 32-22 .592
Sacramento St. 30-25 .545
So. Utah 30-26 .535
No. Arizona 24-32 .428
Weber St. 12-40 .230

# ISU is 11-2 in games decided by three points or less (one possession game) in the past four seasons. That’s an .846 winning percentage.

# ISU is 19-6 in games decided by five points or less (two possession game) in the past four seasons. That’s an .760 winning percentage.
