Hard to believe it, but the basketball season is just seven weeks away.
It was announced this week that Idaho State will appear on ESPN as part of the network's "24 Hours of College Basketball Marathon." The Hawaii-Idaho State game will tip at 2:07 A.M. Mountain on Tuesday morning, Nov. 18. It tips at 11:05 p.m. in Hawaii. Certainly not a great time slot, but definitely cool be be part of this ESPN event.

The folks at Blue Ribbon sent us their Big Sky Conference information. Below is what Blue Ribbon forecasts for the season.

We also got word from the Big Ten Network that The Eastern Washington-Minnesota game on Wednesday, Nov. 26 will be televised live, as will Idaho State's game at Wisconsin on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Eastern Washington's game at Illinois on Nov. 14 will be video streamed on the Big Ten's Web site.

BIG SKY NOTEBOOK
After earning its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament, Portland State racked up on the major awards in the Big Sky last season. Jeremiah Dominguez was chosen the conference’s MVP and Newcomer of the Year and Ken Bone was voted the league’s coach of the year. … Portland State will reload with two Division I transfers who are eligible to play this year: Phil Nelson from Washington and Dominic Waters from Hawaii. Nelson was a big-name West Coast recruit three years ago at McNary High School in Salem, Ore. Waters, from Grant High School in Portland, was the WAC Freshman of the Year while playing at Hawaii. … Brian Katz of Sacramento State is the lone new coach in the Big Sky this season. He replaced Jerome Jenkins, who was fired after compiling an 80-147 record, including 4-24 last season, in his eight-year career. Katz spent the last 15 seasons (1993-2008) as head coach at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, Calif., where he posted a 348-138 record (.716) and led the team to 14 postseason tournament trips, six conference championships, three Elite Eight appearances, and one Final Four. … The dean of Big Sky coaches is Mike Adras of Northern Arizona, who has been in Flagstaff nine years. Last season Adras coached his team to the finals of the Big Sky Tournament, where Portland State prevailed, 67-51.

I think the conference RPI is going to be really bad again this year, so I hope PSU can do well enough individually to avoid the play-in game.

Yeah, RPI is going to suck for the BSC this year.

My only thoughts are that if we win again, we get a better seed due to it being two years in a row. We were hosed last year with the 16 spot.
