Portland State Basketball has added its fourth new player for the coming year with the signing of Aaron Moore to a National Letter of Intent for the 2012-13 season.
Head Coach Tyler Geving announced the signing of Moore, a 6-8 forward from San Bernardino Valley Junior College. Moore averaged 14.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this past season for the Wolverines. He shot .468 from the field and .784 at the free throw line as SBV went 25-6 on the season. Moore was named first team All-Foothill Conference and honorable mention All-State.
"The best thing that Aaron brings to our team is a lot of versatility. He can face up and shoot it out to 18 feet, and he can also get a basket down on the block for us," said Geving. "He is a good athlete and a very good rebounder. Losing Chehales (Tapscott to graduation), that is something we need to address is rebounding. We have to make sure we are getting the job done on the boards and Aaron can do that.
"We are excited to have Aaron. He is a guy that is going to come in and have a big impact on our team next year."
Portland State lost three starters from its 2011-12 team that finished 17-15 overall, 10-6 in the Big Sky Conference. However, 10 letterwinners and one redshirt return for 2012-13. Moore is originally from Riverside, CA and attended Dominguez High School. He joins previous signees Marcus Hall (6-4, G), Lamont Prosser (6-8, C) and Tim Douglas (5-10, G).
