Looking forward to playing y'all this year and next. ACU appears to have adopted Colorado as our home-away from home. We play you this year, and return to Colo Springs next year to play AFA, followed by trip to Fort Collins to play Colorado State in 2017.

Our 2015 season has not gone as we hoped. The Wildcats had 8 players named to the Southland All-Conferenced team. Coming off a 6-6 year, we expected continued improvement as we move toward completion of the transition from D2 to FCS.

Instead, we will limp into Greeley Saturday battered and beaten up with a 3-7 record. We have been playing the past few weeks minus 15 players from our two deep preseason roster. Injuries are not an excuse so much as an explanation for our anemic performance at times. We did manage to pull off a win last week against Southeastern LA and a win against the Bears would enable us to close out the season on a high note.

From the little bit I know about the Bears, it appears you have exceeded pre-season expectations, topped by an impressive win over Portland State. We have had one common opponent in Houston Baptist, a team we both beat by a wide margin so not much help there.

Given your performance against Portland State, I feel certain we will certainly have our hands full against you. Hopefully, we will be healthier when you come to Abilene next fall.

I won't be able to make the trip, although several of the guys from our fan forum are planning to come and looking forward to checking out Greeley and the campus. What's the tailgating like for UNC games? Any other hints to pass along to Wildcat fans about places to eat or stay?

Oscar Wilde--

I wouldn't worry too much about the game as it is meaningless for the Bears as we conclude another depressing season finishing the conference at 3-5. While we did beat Portland State in a moment of accidental competence, we were blown out by such national powerhouses as Southern Utah, Weber State, North Dakota, and Northern Arizona. With the exception of PSU at 8-2, our wins are over awful teams:

HBU 2-8
Western State (DII) 4-7
Sac State 2-8
Cal Davis 1-9

Typically our team enters a season ending game like this listless and not caring and slinks away with another losing season... Former coach Scott Downing's last game against PSU being an exception... I suppose a win over ACU would mean 6-5 but so what? Horrifyingly, the 5 or 6 wins we have may be enough to justify keeping our incompetent coach who will fire one of his coordinators and then claim next year will be different.

2016-2017 will start with big promises that "this year will be different" and the slog will start over as the laughing stock that is UNC football will once again fight to the bottom of the rankings with our equally inept Big Sky lower rung opponents... Yawn... it's all so nauseatingly boring...

Looking forward to senior day and watching the Bears finish the season strong. A WINNING record is within their reach. After being picked to finish 13th in the league, they have the opportunity to finish as high as 8th. Go Bears!

"as high as 8th"

My goodness what an accomplishment.

As nice as it would to have a winning season. All it would mean is more years with the biggest scumbag of a coach. A man who consistently belittles his players and trashes them to only feed his ego. You'll see when your son gets to be a senior and gets benched for what Collins thinks is a better player, because Collins recruited him that year.

It has nothing to do with players ability and everything to do with coaches credibility. Same song and dance from day 1. They loose credibility with players that have been around them long enough and they don't understand why or how (inept) so they blame the player. They then begin to rebuild with the younger more naive players in order to establish a newer status quo: youth or younger talent development (excitement). These cowards get more passes on failures than any staff in history. Now you have a potentially "winning" season and the con artists get to stick around a few more. Disgusting.

I'm proud of the job the Bears have done this season. Going into the year I thought their schedule was going to be easier than in previous years and I predicted a winning season. However as the year played out, their schedule proved to be anything but easy. They played 3 of the current top 4 teams in the league. They beat one of them and played another to the wire. All 3 of these teams could easily be worthy of a playoff bid. This Bears team is head and shoulders better than last years team (3-8), and last years team was better than the previous years team (1-11). Bottom line, whether you like it or not, the Bears are improving. Those of you who complain about starters losing their jobs should keep in mind that this team only won three games last season, with these "starters" playing. There was obviously room for improvement and in my opinion, it takes guts to bench a starter for a younger player (mainly because of all the negative bullshit from players, parents, and people on this board who just don't get it). I believe they should put the best eleven on the field (at any one given time) no matter how old they are, what they've done in the past, or who the fans, parents, or others players want on the field. The development of the TEAM as a whole is more important than any ONE single player. Sorry if you disagree, but that is my opinion. :twocents:

And with respect to the coaching success this year- even a blind squirrel finds a nut. And this was evident last time this staff won more than 3 games. What happened the next year? Oh 1-11 so GTFO in defending this staff

Naw... McCandyman is an idiot, period. This isn't a system set in place to see how many years it takes to get it right. Sorry, I know that may be the case with this staff up till now. But it isn't how it should be and isn't across the country. If that's the case why fire the previous staff? What's the difference? 2010 team lost to the eventual national champs by 3 in similar fashion!

Mccandyman do us all a favor and stop posting.

McCandyman is not wrong though. This team IS performing better than last year. It puts us in a real bind, as nobody can really say this coaching staff deserves to stick around but another win would really make the decision tough. My biggest fear was that Collins would do just enough to stick around and it seems we are at that point.

Truth hurts... Hey numbear1, how's that parlay working out for you? I'm an idiot for stating facts. You're an idiot for thinking the Bears would lose to Houston Baptist. No matter how bad you, and the rest of the haters want this team to fail, they're just not cooperating and it pisses you off. By the way, no way I'll stop posting on the board. It's too entertaining! The laughs just keep coming and coming...

I don't think there is any way that Dunn will make a coaching change, it would take onions that he clearly doesn't posses. Scenario #1, the Bears lose this week but have shown "great" improvement and Dunn states that the program is on an upward track. Scenario #2, the Bears win and Dunn/Norton/Mayor Norton throw a parade because this is the first winning season since the move to Division I. Either way, Samuel G is walking around with a stiffy and will be writing puff pieces about how great Collins is and that he's the greatest employee of UNC since Joe Glenn.

It is my opinion...
The fact that we had competitive games against a couple of good teams (i.e. EWU and Portland State), proves that the talent level of our team is good enough to win CONSISTENTLY. It also proves that this staff must be replaced, because they can't prepare this team to CONSISTENTLY be competitive. The Weber State, NAU and UND games are examples of the ineptness of this staff. Because we have exceeded the preseason expectations of finishing last, Collins will stay and our best hope is to get rid of the weakest links, Boyer and Dinky. Having virtually our entire offense back would be a very enticing opportunity to a proven OC. If we win this weekend, it will be the first winning season for Boyer in 7 SEASONS!!! Rumor is that Coach Kerr is leaving.

Nice way to end the season for the players. Wins are wins and they had more W's than L's this year. Maybe it'll be a great recruiting boost and they can continue to improve the talent level.

It's a 6 point game, they get the ball first, and they physically dominated our defense. Why do you think this W is automatic?
