Adams over Padron

WILDCAT

After what I have seen, with your game vs us and now vs UM, I think I would take Adams over Padron, he is a good passer, good runner and has great field vision.

Just this Wildcat fan's opinion :coffee:

Adams will not get EWU to the post season...Padron will. Coach B is totally messing up. Bad choices on punt and kick returns also.

I concur....Kid could run but has made some horrible decisions in passing game!

I think I would have rather seen Padron in during the UM game, only because I think he could have torn apart their weak secondary. Any other game, I would take Adams over Padron. Here is why:

1. He adds an entire new element to our game. Instead of having to worry about pass or run, our opponents have to worry about pass, run, or scramble. He is making incredible plays when there is noone open.

2. Incredible athleticism. He threw some beautiful passes off on the run. If we keep him in the whole season, we will see so so so much growth out of this kid.

3. Can see downfield better than Padron. Remember seeing Padron only go to Kaufmann, even in double coverage? Adams hit every receiver we own and spread out the defense.

*EDIT* 4. Is everyone forgetting that Adams lead the offense to 32 points!? That's pretty dang good in my opinion. The fact that it was such a close game cannot be blamed on Adams. Our almost loss can be blamed on our terrible run defense (sorry guys, but it's true. Montana put up 400 yards rushing) and our incredible come back can be attributed to the kickoff team and Adam's great decisions.

The downside is, Padron simply has a better gun then Adams. However, I would rather invest in a successful short game before investing in a better deep throw game.

well FWIW Adams had a really good first half and then won the game for us thanks to the on-side kick. He made some really poor decisions later in the game, BUT, he is a freshman.

i DO think it is a mistake to keep Padron on the bench, he is a better passer than Adams PERIOD. But, it is nice to know that we have a good young qb even if he needs to work on his passing game.

both of them get locked onto Kaufman way too much but I guess that is to be expected somewhat.

32-26 EAGLES

I think it was a rhetorical question. ;)

And, I am undecided about this. Adams can play ball. The downside is that he makes Freshman mistakes. Fumbling the ball away when we're trying to tie the game up was horrible. Honestly, I am ok with either QB at this point, as I don't think either has really done enough to completely break away from the other. And I hardly feel like Padron's two games he started against FBS competition are enough to get a complete assessment of him. He played well against Weber State minus the pick on his first throw. Then again, I don't see the practices. But at this point I am not completely sold on Adams being "the man"...but Padron needs to significantly up his completion percentages to be able to break away from Adams.

Adams didn't get locked into Kaufman. Often times, the play was designed to send only Kaufman deep.

Like I said, Padron has a better gun. However, if he had maintained a better pass ratio the other three games, I would still want him. The coach has given him a fair shot, but it's time to take the quarterback who is a better investment in the long run.

Adams made some freshman mistakes, throwing a pick and fumbling the ball late on two drives where we desperately needed points, but he also engineered two scoring drives even later that won us the games, hitting the wide open WR/RB to get us big first downs and get them out of bounds to stop the clock, with no timeouts left. I was rooting for Padron to play the last two drives, but I have egg on my face, because Baldwin knew better and stuck with Adams, and Adams got it done. He is going to be one hell of a QB by the time his senior year is over. The run of outstanding QBs at EWU will not falter. GO EAGS!!!

i think you are forgetting that Padron won both the Idaho and Weber State games for us. Adams has won one game.

Completely Irrelevant.

Most of the points scored during the Weber State game came from Adams. Padron struggled to get anything going vs Weber.

That being said, are we really going to compare Idaho vs UM?

Adam did make mistakes, but these will be easy to correct with experience. However, I think our freshman QB will feel a lot more comfortable at the helm during the North Dakota game.

I agree with you SE, we are going to have a lot of fun watching VA over the next four year. It is hard for me to understand how other so called fans can be an expert about playing time when you watch a game on TV, never attending a practice, not knowing how players work together, never watching game or practice film, or any more than a couple hours on Saturday. It makes you look like an idiot to make stmts as to who should be or not be playing. I have confidence in the coaching staff that they know their team.

I freely admitted that I don't see the practices, so not sure what your point is there. I have only seen one game in person this season, but have seen all of the others on TV. And like I said, I am ok with either QB at this point, I just don't think that one has separated enough from the other enough to call him "the man" yet.

It's ok to have a difference of opinion.

As far as questioning my fan-hood.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and call this one. Adams is the man.

May or May not lead us to the NC "this Year" however to have a freshman QB with this much talent and upside, playoffs are gonna be always in reach and with a little more experience and alot more muscle this kid is gonna be dangerous. It will help recruiting knowing there is a QB that will be here for more than 2 yrs and with the chance to win it all each year ! Biggest worry now is the Injury riddled "D". They couldnt stop water with a sponge yesterday, hope they heal up soon ! GOEAGS!

I don't think it should an either or question. They have different strengths and weaknesses. I have faith that coach Baldwin knows how to best use their respective talents. We fans only see a small fraction of what goes into his decision to play one or the other. Baldwin is a former QB and he knows what he's doing.
