Adams State Exhibition

Adams, out of Alamosa Colorado, a D11 school, was very athletic, but a bit on the small side. Like most D11 basketball programs, they had a few really good three point shooters and were scraping and fighting us all the way. It was a really good exhibition game. Much better than some of our games that will count. They forced 11 first half turn overs. We adjusted and only had 4 in the second half.

Blaize Threatt had a DJesk sort of game, with 15 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds. As a whole, we shot the ball well and rebounded well. Our starters were solid and the freshmen got a lot of PT. Our freshmen look really promising for the future.

There is still a lot to clean up and work to be done, but this team looks like it may have the legs to go deeper into the season than the last few years. That is certainly what I'm hoping for.

I honestly don’t know what to think about this team. The 20 point loss in Logan is not reassuring. The 20 point win vs Adams State is basically a meh. We will see how some of the other non-conference opponents games go. They are going to all have to pull the load left by the void of Jones. We will see how things play out.

Colorado State just beat Adams by 16. Adams was actually ahead of them mid-way through the first half. Probably means little, but it just shows that Adams is a legitimate D11 program. It was probably better competition than some may have thought. Adams has some athletes. They are just a little under sized compared to many D1 teams.
