After 2nd scrimmage defense looks good - adding another?

Well the second scrimmage left us about where the first one did. Defense looked strong and offense needs some work.

Understandably the coaches seem fully confident of offense and Alex at the helm but it sure appeared last night that offense was lackluster at best. There did not seem to be an offensive strategy in play when the first team was out there. It wasn't until the final series of the night that they started to move the ball consistently running behind a line that did look better this week. If you could take our starting front five and put the second team behind them...at least last night that may have created a spark.

The good news though is defense continued to look good. Granted they were helped out by receivers who didn't seem able to catch a thing. But defense looked focused and quick and aggressive. I continue to be surprised that the defensive side seems to be our strong side this year when we all expected the offense to lead the way.

If we can figure out how to "encourage" Alex to stay behind his line and more quickly find receivers with consistent good hands we should be looking good on both sides of the ball. If we weren't already tough on the defensive side is there a chance we could pick up even more skill and experience? Check out the article below.

The season is right around the corner. I think we can really make a splash again but it could be a bit of a roller coaster for a bit...

Interesting. I saw that story of him being granted his release and figured he'd be headed to another FBS school. PSU being in the hunt would have been a surprise a couple of years ago. You never know with Barnum. :-)

I had heard that the Duck coaches were steering him towards PSU, with EWU and Montana the usual suspects as well.

If PSU is his #1 choice, Barnum has more than enough credibility to seal the deal.
