It is on our website. WEBER is hosting Air Force at the Dee on Saturday. 7pm!! I'm tailgating or going to the broiler to get a delicious burger.

Here's the press release. SWEET!

WOW. I guess the kicker at the band camp gets to come to the Dee. maybe that was the stipulation of them in the tourny was that they have to play all games on the road since they are thee Air Force

Air Force will be a much better team than what we played last night. Those kids have a lot of pride and fight in them. They are over matched everywhere they go, but they still seem to pull out some good wins. If we play our regular game, we will be fine. They shoot a lot of threes and we have done well against teams like them. Our three point defense has been outstanding this year. :coffee:

The best part about this game is its a chance to prove ourselves against the MWC. This team has beat San Diego State, UNLV, New Mexico and Boise State. Go Weber!

Sweet, This is a great matchup. The first Mountain West team to come to the Dee since Utah and BYU were in the MWC.

I'm thinking that a better known opponent and being on a saturday we could get a much larger crowd.

Air Force is a good squad, they have wins over Nationally ranked New Mexico, San Diego State and UNLV.

This is a good quality opponent, looking forward to Saturday night.

GO WEBER

Hi all, here's to a good game with no injuries. We are excited to still be playing. We had 'hoped' (as everyone does) to get an NIT invite, but in the first 2 mins of our MWC tourney opener our leading scorer (and MWC leading scorer) Mike Lyons went down with a season ending knee injury (Tough luck for him, he's a great kid and will graduate and be commissioned as a 2Lt in May!)...and the NIT selection committee said that was a major deciding factor in 'no AF'.

But our season wasn't over as we fast forwarded and got the NIT invite. Tough road trip out to Hawaii as my Falcons made the long trip to Hawaii and were faced with two flights to get there on Tuesday (as all direct flights were full) and then a 7pm Hawaii time (11pm MDT) tipoff. We were lucky to walk away with the win, fighting thru the fatigue and time change after starting hot, getting cold and hammered inside and clawing our way back into the game. My postgame thoughts http://ricksfalconreview.blogspot.com/

Our biggest concerns with you will be he matchup with your two bigs inside and then the rotation to cover your three ball...it will be a challenge.

You'll see an interesting matchup on the court with defending the Air Force version of the Princeton offense. It is based on the Princeton but the Falcons have added a major twist this year. Gone are the days of not looking for a shot until less than 10 seconds on the shot clock remains each and every possession. Instead they will see an Air Force team that will push the tempo any opportunity they get and look for a transition basket. Easy right? Not really because if it not there then back into the Princeton principles of passing, cutting, back door cuts and/or back for a three....and doing this while ready to take the best shot they can either early or late in the clock. On defense, you will face a matchup zone from AF using both man-to-man and zone principles.

Will be interesting...Go Falcons

i am happy to see this game ESPECIALLY since it is not on a week night. if we can't get 5,000 to show up for this CIT game then WSU should never bother to host like this again. this is much better than last yr traveling to LMU 2nd rd. it felt like an insult.

this is a good thing for wsu to do for the fans, the team/program.

both our CIT opponents have had ranked wins this yr.

another thing i like about this matchup is we never ever play any teams from boarder states besides conference foes. nice to play a team that is so close.

air force - 1970s - we are 1-1
colorado - no clue - we are 0-2
colorado state - 2002 - 5-1
northern colorado - big sky
new mexico - 2008 - 2-2
new mexico state - cant remember - 4-2
arizona - 2009, long time before that - 0-3
arizona state - 2011 - before that like 30 yrs - 1-2
northern arizona - big sky
unlv - 2009 - before that 10-20 yrs - 1-2
nevada - 2004 - 19-20
idaho - cant remember - 52-20
idaho state - big sky
boise state - 2006 - 41-28
wyoming - cant remember - 2-4

Welcome to the board ltcpilot.

We are really looking forward to Saturday's game, it's gonna be a huge one for both of our programs.

We know exactly how you feel about losing your best scorer on your team, 2 years ago we lost our starting point guard (Damian Lillard) to a season ending injury and we had to fight like crazy during the season.

And regardless of what tournament it is, it's great to know you are still playing basketball this late in the year.

Are you going to be making the trek to Ogden for the game?

I wish but have to work (but my 79year old Dad might make the game from CSprings)....but I will be able to either watch on the CIT website or listen....can't wait. I believe the team will fly from Hawaii tonight straight to your house! GO FALCONS

I think this is why it’s good to do these tournaments. Granted the UVU and LMU combo last year didn’t do much for us…..but these tournaments sometimes force teams from higher level conferences into these types of match ups. Air Force is much more recognizable in the community and recruitment area too. This is a good deal for us……and it would be just as good as win as Dayton, Oral Roberts, or Montana if we can pull it off.

WSU vs current teams in the MWC - Overall 75-60
Boise State 41-28
Nevada 19-20
Colorado State 5-1
Fresno State 4-1
Wyoming 2-4
New Mexico 2-2
UNLV 1-2
Air Force 1-1
San Diego State 0-1
TCU 0-0

hard to believe how little we have played some of these schools over a 50 year span that are driving distance.

Most of the time we play these teams it is always on the road, the last time we even hosted a MWC/WAC team not named Utah, BYU, USU or SJSU was 8 years ago. Craven's last year we hosted Boise State and got smoked.

Hey catcat, update your info, TCU is no longer in the MWC, you stupid bengalhater

dude...who the hell can keep up with the conferences "realignment" these days? just wake me up when the musical chairs ends.

PS everyone, pretend tcu wasnt on that list. for bengalhater: :coffee:

I really love this matchup! I can't wait to see a good MWC team visit the DEE. They may be the biggest known name to visit the DEE in sometime, excluding in-state teams. I hope we can make a run deep into this CIT. After Saturday night, there will only be a handfull of teams still playing college hoops for any tournaments!! I hope we win this tournament! It has been fun for me to see 5 WSU basketball games within a 7 day period!!

Well I wasn't talking out my a$$ when I posted Weber was going to be on the road after Cal poly because that is what I was told. But the administration decided after the game last night to host. Don't know the reasons why but I'm glad they did. It will be fun to see how deep we can go in this tournament playing at the Dee.
