This sounds like something for Brad to track down.
Before the Montana - ISU women's game Saturday I was speaking to some of the facilities people.
One of them told me they read recently a story that said Alaska Anchorage is looking to move up to Division 1 status in 2016 and would like to join the Big Sky Conference (or would make overtures to the conference)
I know that the Seawolves are building a brand new basketball arena that should be done in the next few years and that Anchorage is considering putting in a bid for the Winter Olympics (which if they got it would spur venue construction)
They don't have a football team now but the facilities person told me they would form a team if accepted in a conference.
Interesting thought though I don't know if the conference could afford for its members to have to travel both to Alaska AND North Dakota for a number of sports in the same year...that would get pretty expensive.
Anyway just passing it along.
