I believe I mentioned this on another board... part of some long rant about a long-term possibility if PSU had to drop football and needed a conference to remain in 1-AA... a scenario too ugly to discuss, BTW.
Hockey is the "big money" sport in Anchorage, and it appears UAA is moving on an on-campus facility. This was hinted at some months ago... there appears to be progress. Since UAA is currently D-2 (hockey has no D-2, so UAA plays up in hockey), there's a thought process that the new arena will enable UAA to move up to D-1.
Perhaps just as newsworthy, even though this is simply a blog, is some discussion that UAA might even add football down the road. Central to this is the need for a stadium, and in the Seawolves' case, that may well have to be a dome, which might be why it never happens. It's a discussion worth checking in on periodically.
