I know JMU is in FBS now, but I think a single game ticket for $122 is pretty outrageous. I agree with you that we couldn’t fill Stewart Stadium if tickets were given away. The Wildcats were starting to get some pretty good crowds in the Hill era. If they kept that success and had any decent sales promotion, I think the Wildcats would have been trending to get 10,000 plus crowds in most home games, but can we blame anyone for not showing up for 40-0 homecoming embarrassments or giving (and I mean giving) the Bad News Bears their only win in 20 or so games (Munoz committed at least four turnovers himself if I remember—the fact he thinks he can do better anywhere else is laughable).
The Wildcats will need to have a good product (winning team) and have a good promotional strategy if they want to get butts in the seats consistently. Right now they have neither, and there is no ambition to change that.
I honestly think it will probably be a 3-9 season. Idaho State has ambition and is passing the Wildcats up while our AD and University Administration is content to just field a team that is lower third to basement in both football and basketball.
Time to get NCAA hockey! Just put seats on other side of Ice Sheet. Of course, this administration is the coast into retirement administration, so nothing like that would ever happen.
I had a friend at work who graduated from JMU, he said it was quite the atmosphere and experience, so I bet you will have fun. I gave him crap that they needed a phantom call on the blocked FG return to beat the Wildcats that year with Cantwell! Wow, I almost can’t even remember those days due to how fast the decline has been.
You will have to tell us how it goes. I for one am too poor to travel or afford that single ticket price.
