Well...here we go again. Three games in three nights. I'm hoping that the Cats end up playing at 10 each night. UC Davis is first. What should we expect from the Aggies?

It won't be easy vs Davis, they are 3-1 on the season so far and seem to be shooting the ball well. They are very balanced on offense, however it seems they run a small lineup. Their starting forward Chima Moneke is only 6'6, but he's also their leading scorer averaging 13.8 PPG. Very guard oriented team. At least thats what the stats on ESPN are saying.

UC Davis is playing Sac State tonight, if you want a glimpse of what to maybe expect it might not be such a bad idea to check it out

Well...I watched a bit of the Sac vs. Davis game. Sac played them tough for a good chunk of the game, but just ran out of steam. I was impressed by the rebounding prowess of Davis. They are quick and experienced. You can tell they have played together and have good chemistry. I wasn't overly impressed though. Can they beat us? Yes...of course. However, Weber has more talent. Both benches are fairly deep and they both play a guard dominated lineup. We desperately need other guys to show up and score. If nobody else is hitting shots then Jeremy can't do his thing. Passing and movement is key for the Cats. If we are standing around, then we aren't effective. I think the UC Davis game is going to be competitive, but Weber should win.

I agree on both accounts-- one is on the players, one is on Rahe.

L'aska is shaping up to be interesting. In our side of the bracket, UC Davis is the the only team with D1 wins. They look to be a better team than we originally thought. The winner of Drake ans Iona have both struggled early. They played Nevada on their way up to L'aska and got beat pretty good. The wolfpack look to be a solid team with wins over Oregon State and LMU. I hope we get to play them. Oakland and Buffalo look to be decent teams as well. I thought going into the Gulf Coast Showcase that we would struggle but we survived vs. Central Michigan and looked pretty solid in the other 2 games.

UC-D is 2-0 against the Big Sky already this season with wins over NAU, and @ Sac.
They are also 1-0 over the WCC with a win @ Santa Clara. This will be a very good test for the Wildcats! Hopefully it's a great sports weekend with WSU hoops AND WSU Football both playing well.

Amen!! :thumb:

Well...that was a butt kickin! Davis played us tough from what I can tell the first 20 and after that it was all Weber. Nice team win by the Cats. If we share the ball, it is tough to beat us.

Didn't get to watch it. Anyone have an online option? Also heard that there is a two hour tape-delay tonight. Uh...WTF?

Seemed like in the second half the only real offense UC DAVIS had was from the line. Dusty looked to be everywhere. Should have got to wear the moose hat also. No matter it was a great win.

The key to the game, I thought, if there can be a key in a 30 point blowout win, was the rebounding of our smalls. Senglin, Baker, and Gittens all did a great job on the boards. This was needed, since Braxton sat for all but about the first 3 minutes of the first half after picking up his 2nd foul.

Of course, hitting 13-25 from 3 doesn't hurt. I thought Braxton did a great job in the 2nd half of kicking the ball back out, but Davis was doubling down from the perimeter, which made this easier. Lots of other teams have doubled from the low post, taking away the easy kick out to the perimeter.

Weber was bitch-lapped by a much quicker, faster, stronger and most of all better shooting team. Too much talent for Weber to handle. Has anyone but me noticed how quickly Senglin disappears in games where there is talent on the other team?

For once I'd like a game not be decided because we can't make freethrows.

It was a tough game but late turnovers and missed freethrows cost Weber the game

I have been silent during the Alaska tournament. But some on here, I believe longtimecat, used the Florida tournament as a gauge to the teams success last season. So how are we gauged now? 1-2 against comparable teams, not sure how this did us any good? Looks like UVU will win in Ogden. Sad. Rahe simply cannot coach. Tonight was another classical example of Rahe meltdown. Like others have expressed, great recruiter, terrible coach. He has back 90%. Of the same roster. What is there still to learn? Why can't we be competitive? We will win "league" and be happily on our way...

I have, up to now, believed Rahe was an adequate coach. I no longer think that... he is not creative, not flexible, doesn't get his team ready to play consistently and many other things that should be in his coaching skill set that are not. If we are satisfied with his results in the past then keep him. But if we keep him don't expect things to get better. I am now convinced that he should be replaced in an attempt to move the program to the next level.

You don't think getting down double-digits early and being out-rebound 42-25 had anything to do with this one? I'm not sure how points in the paint compare but have a feeling the front court got worked too.
