I thought they would go with Leadingham over Ray. I haven't compared each players stats but I would have to think it was a pretty close race. It sounds like Ray had more wins though. Any comments?

Statistically similar but Ray had the enormous advantage of playing with Charles Roberts and compiling a winning season under Volek. This was the season Roberts rushed for 400 (no joke) yards in one game and broke Jerry Azumah's all time 1AA rushing record. Lead played in those "dark ages" under Moosh and I don't think he had the same level of support.

That was actually Formula 409.

Yeah, but it wasn't in this decade it was in the last one. He did it against Idaho State in the last home game of 1999 one week after the death of Walter Payton. The OL was LT - Tim Conley, LG - Jon Osterhout, C - Terry Wagner, RG - Lonie Paxton and RT - Doug Hollingsworth. We found an old dried up piece of grass that Jon pulled up from the stadium turf after that game in our garage a couple of weeks ago. :) That was his last game at home as a Hornet and one I'll never forget.
