And the game ball goes to...

Concur, the defense definitely made a statement today. Even though the offense wasn't clicking at times in the game and left a lot of points on the field, the D won this game hands-down.

how many sacks did we have in this game and how many picks? it seemed like a lot of both! i loved how we were getting after that qb tonight.

Not to take away from an outstanding defensive performance, but I knew going in their offense was pretty lackluster, and I heard halfway through that one of their senior OL threw out his back walking up the steps at the team hotel hours before the game, which certainly benefited our pass rush. That said, our D played lights out, especially the secondary, IMO. Ronald Baines, TJ Lee, Tevin McDonald, and co. were ball hawkin'. :notworthy:

The line, both offensive and defense. These guys dominated and allowed every other positive aspect of the game to happen. It was REALLY nice to see the intensity on both sides of the all especially in the first qtr.
Good game Eagles!!
Yes! we are ready for Missoula

This was the most complete game Eastern has played this year. Southern Utah caused problems for a lot of teams, and outside of a bad loss to UC Davis, they hadn't gotten spanked like they got tonight by an FCS team. Granted, the two OL injuries really hurt them, but we finally started to show some blitz packages that really made it tough on their offense. I hope we see a lot more of that next week, because NAU used different blitzes to completely shut down the Griz earlier in the year.

FYI.... the Griz were lucky to beat Cal Poly. Two horrendous call went against CP, including a ruled fumble which replays showed wasn't even close. Plus, Montana benefitted from a very iffy PI call to keep their game-tying drive alive. Even with those shitty calls, all CP had to do was kick a 25 yard FG to ice the game and win, and they muffed it.

Montana benefitting from shitty calls in Missoula? Never!

Bottom line, to win in Missoula you have to play well enough to overcome the crowd AND the refs. The crowd usually isn't a problem, but the refs...that is another story. I actually remember after the 2009 game in Missoula the Big Sky acknowledging that the officiating crew had gotten some calls wrong in that game, which was a narrow EWU loss. But CP had their shots and blew them so I don't feel all too bad for them.
