Ok Im gonna start off by saying that I am STRONGLY against scheduling 2 FBS games a year, however when you look at this way.......

Over the last few years, Weber State has thrown quite a few upgrades towards thier athletic facilities, most noticably the upgrades to the Dee and Stewart Stadium. (Jumbo Tron, scoreboards/ new turf field, Stadium lights etc)

Anybody else think that maybe the money of playing two FBS teams for the last 5 years played any role in helping to pay for some of the upgrades? All these upgrades have been done during the 5 year span of playing up twice a year.

Look at what Weber has planned, the Ticket Facility and permanent concession stands at Stewart Stadium, and the indoor practice facility?

As much as I hate these games, could money obtained by playing these games be helping Weber's athletic teams in the long run?

Heck, by playing both Texas Tech and Boston College in the same year, Weber would have gotten close to a million bucks if not more

Undoubtedly.

Plus, allows the players to test their mettle and for Weber to get its name out on a more national level - which, I'm sure, helps greatly in recruiting.

A lot of the upgrades for basketball were secured by Jerry Graybeal in his adminsitrative role after he stepped down from being the AD. However, by playing FBS or High Major teams (basketball) Weber gets nice payouts that help fund our programs, and allows the department to put donations else where, specifically facilities.

As for the football program, it really blossomed under Mac and, hopefully, will continue to grow. I know that Jerry Bovee is doing everything he can to build up the program.

Only way to get away from playing 2 FBS each year, is to get more butts in the seats and bring in more donations for football. An average of 12K at home games could be a start. With our schedule this year, I don't see how 10K average isn't possible. Mcneese, Eastern, Cal Poly, Montana, and UNCO, this is an amazing home schedule. Too bad most Utahanns have no clue about FCS football or how good the Big Sky is in football.
