Appalachian State Dynasty? Let\'s go, Vikings!

PSU Defense has got to improve so much greatly to match up against a team like Appalachian State. They beat Delaware last night by 28 points (a team who beat Navy) and I can see now how they could beat Michigan by two points (and nearly nine) in the Big House.

Compared to Appalachian State, no team in the FCS right now is a serious challenger for the championship. But I think we can be the next serious challenger. This begs the question: How did Wofford beat them? We need to get ahold of that game film and study it. And will their coaching staff be moving up to coach at, say, Duke the way Jim Tressel's went up from Youngstown State to Ohio State?

How many really good athletes out west want to play defense?

It seems USC locks up everyone in the Pac-10. That's not totally true (Arizona ain't bad), but there's a reason or several we have "West Coast Offense" but not "West Coast Defense."

Trust me, it's not coaching. (I thought App State's coach was not quite the quality of Wulff when watching that playoff game) Championship defense requires championship athletes. They seem to be hard to come by in this region.
