ARE YOU READY FOR SOME DOMINOES??

It looks like Nebraska will join the Big 10. Grab a chair....pop open a Dew and watch one big butt dominoes game.

So does this big shake-up affect WSU? After the dust settles will the WAC have to replace some members with UM and WSU?

I really don't see WSU moving up to the WAC. Montana yes, WSU NO. WSU does not meet the attendance requirements to be D1 in football. Thats just a fact, sad but true.

I agree. A program that averages 5,000 fans a game isn't moving up. And attendance aside, none of the football programs in the league, other than UM, are even close to being able to compete at a higher level.

WSU Football = Yawn. I say drop Football from Weber unless we can move up :!: Big Sky may as well incorporate a coed league as far as I'm concerned, it just might bring out more fans.

You have got to be kidding me!! Why in the hell do you hate WSU football so much? Look, you are either part of the problem or part of the solution, and you sir are definitely part of the problem. Get out to the games, support Mac and this team. If you want basketball only go to freaking UVU.

I go to 2-3 Home games every year, But come on WSU Football is equal to High School Football in Alabama. We either move up or move out, the way I sees it. UM has won National Championships and has an atmosphere to lust after, and they're still unsatisfied. What does that tell you AJ?

Unfortunately, weberskipc holds the same sentiments as most college football fans, and that's why in the future we are going to see four 16 team super conferences with a playoff and not much else. College football has become a huge money making business and over time all the money and attention has been shifting towards the top 50 or so programs, leaving little for the rest. The so called mid-major programs survive but are increasingly losing money and power to these top programs. And the lower tier FBS and lower division programs continue to lose money and struggle to survive. More and more FCS schools are dropping their football programs every year. So, as bad as it pains me to say it, I do wonder how long the Weber program can survive. I'm not saying give up and drop football, but the future doesn't look good.

I love football and I love Weber State, so naturally, I love Weber State football. However, the program has been managed poorly by the administration, until recently with the arrival of Mac (Dave and Jerry both did their best), and really only after he started winning.

For the past 16-20 years, Weber should have been putting together a plan to move out of the Sky. After Nevada, Boise, and Idaho jumped ship in the mid 90s, Weber should have automatically started scheming a way out of the Sky. The Sky isn't doing anything for Weber. Actually, it really hurts the CATs (it wasn't always like this), but lately...YIKES. Students think Weber is DII because most of the attention in the local media goes to the Big Three (hell the trib has more stories on Westminster than Weber), and the conference is made out of teams and schools not respected. Unfortunately, Our fans aren't excited by playing Sac State (the WAC commissioner mentioned them as a possible replacement team for departing WAC schools, along with PSU, UC-DAVIS, and CaL-San L, but not UM...WOW that would be a bust for the WAC). Why? There isn't any type of rivalry or history between us, and lets face it...they really aren't competitive (their football team should be better this year).

If your school isn't creating loyalty amongst its students, alumni, and the community in which it belongs then its not getting donations, sponsorships, and $$$ to fund the institution.

Lets all face it...With this move the Sky might be killed, and so might FCS football. Its Weber's own fault for not looking at the big picture.

If people on this board think that Football at Weber is a joke - tell that to the 8 to 10 players in the NFL that played here. This does not count the many that have played in the NFL that played here. We have had as many or more players drafted into the NFL during the last 5 years as BYU has.
Why would good teams that play in the FCS really want to move up a division when they would have NO chance of winning a national championship???? Boise is the only team that has been really successful after making the move.

Where in the Hell do you get this theory from? Why would FCS no longer exist? I dont' understand your thinking pattern here. Are all the teams NOT in the big conferences just going to blow away? 50 years ago before there was a BCS, FCS, there was STILL small college football. Football on these smaller levels won't just die, things will change sure but there will still be football.

LONG LIVE WEBER STATE WILDCAT FOOTBALL,

In the last 2 years Weber State football has had the most success ever, a Big Sky Title 2 straight playoff appearances and a playoff win.

Lets do it again this year.

Bigger conferences means less OCC games with FCS schools, which means less opportunities for the smaller schools to get pay days. Unfortunately, and you know this all to well, WEBER's football team has to make 450K a year off of OCC games, for the team to survive.

Also, 50 years ago things were a lot simpler, more regionalized, due to the lack of communication, transportation, media, and fiscal opportunities. Small schools, in a lot of cases, were the only things available for entertainment in the community (UM still is like that). There was more tradition, student interaction (due to smaller enrollments), and the community was more involved. However, 2010, is a tad different from the era you are trying to use as your premise.

i guarantee no matter what happens the big sky will still have football in 2011 and 8 of the 9 current members will still be here.

someone reference this thread next year.

LOL!

how does 4 "power fbs conferences" affect the big sky?

there are 65 teams in the current "power 6" excluding the lamoz like mtn west n wac.

so 4 16 team conferences is 64 teams.

so i dont see why the wack or mtn wst would be needing members?

and didnt we hear the mtn lol isnt expanding?

even if the big 12 disolved or mutated in to the super wack/mtn west wouldn't that mean maybe UM leaves the big sky? what would we do as an 8 team conference? oh wait we've done that a lot. we dont need to add another DII.

that would be great for us. but if anything i would guess they would just disolve the wack or mtn west n not merge with a bunch of FCS or move down.

I just read some report, from some BCS guru dude, who once was the SEC's commissioner, about how the MWC is gonna become a super conference, Kansas, Kansas St., Baylor, & Iowa State are all gonna join. LOOOOL...Oh that Boise State will be invited if that were to happen.
