ARE YOU READY FOR SOME DOMINOES??

ESPN is reporting that Boise State is leaving the WAC for the MWC.

I guess, its almost official for Hornet fans, SAC STATE will be heading to the WAC, but will be changing its name to SAN JOSE II: AS BAD, AND MUCH WORSE, BUT IN A DIFFERENT CITY.

i just saw it to. so the wac is down to 8. when is UM getting the invite along with sac lol

I thought UM was pretty much dead in the water and that the invites to the WAC were going to Western Wyoming, Elko Community college, SAC STATE and Seoul Polytechnical College.

I have a hard time respecting the Sky wth Sac in our conference. What type of conference would the WAC be with SAC in it. I guess if the WAC were to expand and add SAC, that would make the Sky a lot stronger. Tal, you are wrong, these expansions are going to be very helpful for the Sky, since the Sky will be a better conference than the WAC in the longrun, since and we all know this, without Boise State the WAC is as good as dead as a FBS league.

It looks like Nebraska will join the Big 10. Grab a chair....pop open a Dew and watch one big butt dominoes game.

So does this big shake-up affect WSU? After the dust settles will the WAC have to replace some members with UM and WSU?
I really don't see WSU moving up to the WAC. Montana yes, WSU NO. WSU does not meet the attendance requirements to be D1 in football. Thats just a fact, sad but true.

I agree. A program that averages 5,000 fans a game isn't moving up. And attendance aside, none of the football programs in the league, other than UM, are even close to being able to compete at a higher level.

If attendance requirements are going to be enforced then USU better get ready for a invite to the Big Sky, they have issues too. If WSU was invited to the WAC I think attendance would go up exponentially, with better teams coming in to play. I would love WSU-USU every year. The same goes with basketball attendance. I would jump in a heart beat.

I agree. If Weber were in a conference whose teams had more familiar names for the community, an instate rival, and a conference name with media accreditation, attendance and donations would improve drastically.

However, AJ is absolutely right. If Weber cannot prove their worth now, even though there is great potential, then why would a conference want to take a chance on us? Thats why this whole SAC, Davis, SLO, and PSU conundrum is so baffling to me. None of those schools have proven to be consistent winners, nor are they able to fill their stadiums. Their facilities might be decent, but in comparision to other Sky teams they are paltry.

They wouldn't help the WAC as much as UM, MSU, or WEBER could. Each school has a history with the other schools in the conference. Also, the conference, if it expanded to 12 would be able to have two divisions: A Pacific and Mountain. Idaho has a natural rivalry with Montana, A USU vs. Weber rivalry would help both schools; as much as the Aggies try to pretend it wouldn't (BYU and UTAH don't see USU as a serious rival), and travel would be regional; except for Hawaii. Granted, one more school needs to come along, and I'd instantly say NAU, except for their recent financial and attendance woes.

I love my alma mater. I support their sports teams near and far whenever I can. I love going to Tucson or Tempe yearly for NAU's in-state football games vs. the Pac-10....err....11....16. It's a blast to see my little alma mater go up against the big boys to the south.

That all being said, NAU would get obliterated if they were to move up (WAC). The facilities, infrastructure, student/community support and financial backing just are not in place. Track, cross country, soccer could more than hold their own. While I see glimmers of talent and hope often, NAU's football, basketball, volleyball teams aren't there.

NAU's financial woes are somewhat recent.....their attendance woes have been around since before I became a fan as a kid.

It's not about competiveness. (see Cal-State Northridge, Sac St) It's about market presence and establishing a brand and hope the programs improve. (see Portland State) Utah State isn't about to allow us in their territory....they'd push for SUU before us.
