Arevalo retiring...

clawman,
A PM is in your box. Plan for Sat Feb 21st, for the FB Seniors Meal @ 4pm, my residence. Hope I can see some of them tonight at MBB Game, and get the word out. Vic

Maybe i'm thinking to much into this but is anyone else worried that the next President wont share the same vision in regards to Athletics as Dr. Arevalo? I really like the direction the school is heading and am hopeful that the BOR are looking at internal candidates that will keep the ship sailing in the same direction. I also am concerned if we bring in an outside person they will want to bring in their own people and we could lose Bill Chaves which in my opinion would be a terrible blow to EWU. We are so close to getting the Gateway, we are the top power in the Big Sky for Football and are one of the top teams in the Nation and will open the 2014 ranked #1 in the Nation. I just don't want us to take any backwards steps...

I would be shocked if we find a President that cares as much about people as Dr A.and Nadine. I have no idea what he is like in the work environment but can say he truly cares about his students.
I was so impressed when he came to Vics house for the players dinner.
Outstanding! I am sure he and Nadine could have done a number of other things during their personal time but chose to show support for a fan of the program and its athletes.
I believe the BOR will be taking comments as to what is important to the public. Maybe an outpouring of ideas from the athletics community would have some impact.

The turn around at Eastern has been in large part as a result of the last two presidents Dr. Jordan followed by Dr. Arevalo. I was at Eastern when Drummond was there and he ran Eastern so far in the ground we nearly became WSU Cheney. Dr. Jordan was hired and started the transformation we see today.

Who ever was on the hiring committee the last two president searches did a great job, so hopefully they make it three in a row.

Yes, it's a little concerning. I hope whoever they end up hiring will share the same vision as Dr. A, not just for athletics but the University in general. Clawman, you're right about Dr. Jordan turning things around at Eastern. I was a student in the late 90's and let's just say the folks in charge at that time had little to no vision for the University. I was really glad to see things turn around after I graduated. Success in inter-collegiate athletics has had a large part in all of that and I hope people realize that. Getting your brand out into the public eye is incredibly important to things like enrollment and the growth of the University.
