Assistant Coaches

Who stays, and who goes? I don't know many of the assistants, but I know Colton Swan is a wildcat thru and thru. I for one think he has done a great job with the LB's and is committed to WSU. I think Hill needs to clean house somewhat though.

CoachingSearch.com learned that Southern Utah director of offense / quarterbacks coach Steve Clark and wide receivers / passing game coordinator Fesi Sitake will join Jay Hill's staff at Weber State.

I love the Steve Clark hire. But that also means that there is no chance we keep Pflu. Maybe there never was a chance since we passed on him for the HC.

Welcome to Weber, let's break some WSU/Big Sky offense records!

The Standard-Examiner has also learned that SUU defensive coordinator Justin Ena will be joining Clark and Sitake in making the move north, according to a source familiar with the situation.

At the luncheon today, Coach Hill mentioned that he had four Polynesian coaches on his staff. We know about two of them, that means there are two more we don't know about. Hill already has his staff. Also, he mentioned that Swan has been retained. To me, it didn't seems like Coach Hill would be retaining any other current coaches. He mentioned that he already had his staff in place. Also, there was a huge emphasis in getting the local pipeline going again. My favorite thing about the luncheon was that Coach Ena said Weber will be playing a 4-3 in the future!! Ahhhhhh...YES!! No more 3-5 garbarge!!

Looks like they have found a way to strengthen the rivalry if successful. :stir:

Wait a minute, someone other than Weber State's coaching staff is being raided? I'm not sure how to act.

I find it odd that I'm actually posting on the football forum, but I take the news of 4 Polynesian coaches to be exceptionally good for us. Coach McBride's tie to the local Poly community was so strong and he had built it over the years when he was at the U, and his hire of Coach Chad (and I will attempt this -- Kau'haa'ha'a????) built a great connection to Hawaii talent as well. Chad has taken that Hawaii tie on to USU, then the U and now he is recruiting Hawaii and plucking some Utah Polynesian talent to Wisconsin as well. The one thing that the coach whose name shall not be spoken did to ruin the program was to instantly offend the local Poly community and ignoring Hawaii completely after we had brought some great talent from the islands. I think this is a great move by Hill and just what the program needs to rebuild. Also glad he kept Swan...

According to Roy Burton, Coach Hill is expected to add Kite Afeaki to the staff.

I'm a huge fan of seeing Kite at Weber, but I haven't seen anything else suggesting that he is coming to Weber. Is there an article?

Still need a QB coach or is Fesi, as passing game coordinator going to be in charge of the QBs? Special teams, RBs, secondary, DL (if Kite is coming, I'm sure he will be our DL coach), OL, and possibly a QB coach? I'm thinking Swan might be the special teams guy. Not sure though.
