Assistant Coaches

I saw Quinton Ganther last week out at lunch with Steve Clark and Jason Kaufusi. I believe there is a good chance he will join the staff, probably coaching RB's..

WSUfan was correct, Ganther to join staff.

Weber State: A source tells CoachingSearch that former Utah running back Quinton Ganther will join Jay Hill's staff at Weber State. Ganther played for the Titans from 2006-2009 and later with Redskins, Bills, and Seahawks.

Hill is putting together a good staff. I'm impressed, so far. I would think that players and recruits will be, as well. :thumb: :thumb:

Every Wildcat has it's day, or at least we are hoping so. :dance:

Afeaki will coach defensive tackles.

Weber State: Sources tell us Wisconsin assistant director of operations Kite Afeaki has been hired as defensive tackles coach at Weber State.

Every coach on staff so far has strong Utah ties. Big change from the prior staffs and I'm loving it. I'm very excited for Weber football again. :nod:

Coaching staff so far:
Head Coach - Jay Hill (Utah native, played at and has coached at Utah);
Offensive Coordinator - Steve Clark (BYU grad, has coached at Utah, BYU, SUU, and Provo HS);
Defensive Coordinator - Justin Ena (played at BYU, has coached at SUU);
Assistant - Colton Swan (played at and has coached at Weber);
Passing Game Coordinator/Wide Receivers - Fesi Sitake (Utah native, played at and has coached at SUU);
Defensive Ends - Jason Kaufusi (Utah native, played at Utah, has coached at Cottonwood HS, Utah, Weber, and BYU);
Defensive Tackles - Kite Afeaki (Utah native, played at Weber and Utah, has coached at USU and Wisconsin);
Running Backs - Quinton Ganther (played at Utah and in the NFL, has coached at Utah).

Thanks for posting this list. Big change, indeed. I'm liking it too, and very excited to see how this next season plays out. "If it walks like a (fb coach) and it talks like a (fb coach)..." Coach Hill very much sounds the part. I love that the staff seems like they are vested in Utah and WSU, and to see a few local recruits already committed. I say recruit the best players available wherever you can get them, but it'd sure be nice to be more competitive in in-state recruiting.

Lance Hunsaker will coach Special Teams and Defensive Backs. Another former Utah assistant and son of Dick Hunsaker.

I really like the direction the staff is heading. Still curious who the OL and QB coaches are going to be; maybe Clark is going to coach the QB's too. Is Colton going to be coaching on the offensive side of the ball? Right now it seems like it, but who knows. No matter, this is starting to look really exciting.

OL coach, according to the meeting last night, will be Brent Myers. He is a 33 year veteran and is coming from UNLV where he was the OC and OL coach.

Thanks tal. Somehow I missed this earlier.

Weber State: Sources tell us former UNLV offensive coordinator Brent Myers will join the Weber State staff as assistant head coach / offensive line.

Looks like he didn't coach this past season after being let go by UNLV, where he was replaced by Timm Rosenbach. Tons of experience and coached at Utah for one season (big surprise). Played at EWash and has also coached at EWash and NAU.

Still don't know who will coach QBs and TEs. What will Swan do?
Clark will coach QBs and Swan will coach TEs. Not sure how Swan coaching TEs will work. He's always been a defensive guy.
