• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Athletics Budget Recovers

WOW.....

For the record, I don't throw everything on Paul...Paul deserves credit for many of the hires in the department...all I said was that Jeff didn't cut those positions, Paul did (and with the athletic budget recovery plan, he had some tough decisions to make, one's I hope no one here would ever have to make, because it was not fun for him at all).

Paul also deserves credit for the P.A.W.S. program, getting Bengal Village's concept off the ground, and I'll say this, he gave a lot to this program, and wanted nothing but the best for all.

Did soccer drive to a non-sanctioned, spring tournament ... honestly, I don't know. I'm talking about regular season, regular competition stuff. If student-athletes are having issues, there is a thing called the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee that meets regularly that any and all concerns can be aired out at. Or they can run to you. I guess they have a choice there.

Here's what I propose to you...come down to my office, and talk to me and Jeff about the concerns that athletes have brought up to you, that way we can discuss and allay any of your concerns, and make sure that all the proper needs are being met. This way you can inform of which athletes are having issues, and we can remind them that we have available forums to air any concerns, and then we can enlist you to help us rectify any such situations that might need altering. Volunteering your time would be a tremendous thing to do for these student-athletes, don't you agree? My email is [email protected] ... leave me your name and number, we'll set up a time, and discuss all of these things in person, because it means much more in person than anonymously behind a screen name.

George Carlin used to say that the amount of an %#$hole someone is was dependent on his proximity. A guy right in front of him might be "a real %#$hole" but a guy 5 miles a way might be "A REAL %#$HOLE!!!!!!!!!!" Same for the internet....easy to rip folks you don't ever have to see when they don't know who you are....not quite the same when you have to stand behind what you say.

ISUSID

Golly-Gosh...for any of you that don't know, (and apparently can't figure it out from his ID) ISUSID is Frank Mercogliano, who is the ISU Sports Information Director, and Assistant Athletic Director. Frank makes NO efforts to hide who he is. He goes on every football trip. He knows MORE about what goes on in ISU athletics than any other person that ever posts on here. He KNOWS from FIRST-HAND experience about what has happened in ISU athletics since he got here 11 years ago. If he invites you to come and speak with him and Jeff about problems you may be aware of that they're not...I'd take him up on it. He's sincere, serious and a good man. He works extremely hard at his job. If any of you choose to ignore that invitation...then your true motivations for criticizing are revealed...there's no concern for the programs at ISU, just a desire to denigrate and tear down. Any poster here that TRULY cares about improving athletics at ISU will accept ISUSID's invitation, and go meet with him face-to-face. Unfortunately, what Coach Z said a couple of weeks ago on the radio show when asked about criticism on web fan pages is true, it's easy to be critical when you can post anonymously from behind a computer screen. It's easy to criticize and tear down other human beings and their efforts if you don't have to be courageous and reveal your own identity. That's why newspapers will not print letters-to-the-editor if the writer won't identify himself.
There is a lot of good that can come from fan pages like this, but the flip-side is that it's a great place for cowards to hide-out and take anonymous shots (true or not) at whoever they have a personal grudge against. True Bengals know what I'm talking about.

VOTB (Jerry Miller)

Bringing the athletic budget into the black in one year is amazing! Many people have sacrificied this year and that is what it has taken. As I posted a couple of months ago - It is humiliating for our players and coaches to play DIV 1 schools and get schooled. We possibly could have had 3 wins this season if we would have scheduled NAIA schools to start the season but then ISU would have to pay them to come and play at ISU. Let's thank these coaches and players for sacrificing!!!!Thanks for the sacrifice!!!GO BIG ORANGE!!! :P

I guess Dave's apology was not good enough.

Nope it isn't Cub. If he was sincere, he could easily delete his post with my name on it, but that is not a big deal. I don't hide who I am on here.
