ATTEMPT TO SET A WORLD RECORD

There is a lot of interest to bring more people into the games by setting a record for painted bodies. What is proposed is to have enough bodies painted(338) to create the entire fight song.

Mktg. could possibly kick in for some free TIX & maybe a drawing for WSU gear or something to participants including the army of painters we'd need. We could get Big Buddah to cover it, X96, Mick & Alan "The Freak Show" on KBER.., our illustrious Sub standard Exagorater, etc. The media would not be able to ignore this . I don't think it's been done yet, so we get to set the standard. I have people researching it on the Guinness site.

Please let us know your thoughts/ideas on how to make this a reality. The team would feed off this kinda support like crazy I am thinking.

GOOOOOOOO WILDCATS!

Body painting? Really? Is there anything more cheesy than meaningless world records? Leave the gimmickry to the minor league baseball teams of the world. Some of us just go to actually WATCH and enjoy the football game. And at times I can't even do this due to all those damn cheap t shirts, paws, and stuffed cats they keep shooting into the air, causing everybody around me to go into a frenzy. To me, all the extra curricular crap is really unnecessary and downright annoying.

Don't lecture me on game experience. I get out plenty. In addition to Weber games, I attend several FBS games a year, including Pac-10 games. The greatest sports experience of my life was a Cal-Oregon game in Berkeley. And you don't get all that extra crap at these games. People are there to watch the game, and that doesn't mean "sitting on your hands." The fans cheer for the action on the field, not some cheap garbage constantly being shot out into the crowd. The fans are actually interested in the game on the field. That's why they go to the game. And the viewing experience doesn't even compare.

The subject matter of this topic isn't one to get worked up over, sir. Just a suggestion, and it's not that bad of one either. I concur. Every stadium since the dawn of time has had items shot up into the crowd, especially basketball. Simmer.

This is a rather interesting thread. You've got to give it to born2bleed, at least there is an idea to get Weber some extra exposure; even though its a gimmick and not reflective of the team nor the game. But, it just might get some more fans in the seats. It might even get those fans to cheer. I've never been to a stadium that is quiter than Weber's. Last week was pathetic, if you ask me. Great game, even with the 6 give aways, four extra periods, and nobody, at least in my section, was doing anything. Just sittin on their hands waiting for the fireworks. I mean, what else can you do. I do know one thing, if a fan is painted they take the game that much more seriously. So, how would it be a bad thing having, instead of only 20, but 350 painted fans at the game? At least the stadium will be louder.

Hate to break it to you SWeber, the crap is here to stay. I hate it too, but it's part of the game atmosphere. For some people that is the only way they will wear Weber gear. I for one, don't mind buying a $5-$10 shirt.

I actually am not the idea creator. I wish i was. It's an idea worth exploring. I am just the only one brave enough to start a controversial thread....LOL. What ever it takes to get a full stadium should be on a list for consideration. I, too am tired of half full stadiums with little or no crowd noise. If we have to give away 8,000 tickets for a few games to achieve it then, let's do it. At least some of the money would be made up in concessions. Am I only dreaming of 20,000 fans to a Wildcat game or can we make it happen? Heck when Montana comes to town , we'll only need 15,000 because UM will bring 5,000 themselves. You tailgaters will have to get there early. :D

Chill, dude! It's all about BIS (Butts in Seats). I come for the football, but whatever boosterism is legal and moral is QUITE ALRIGHT with me! Let each enjoy the game in his or her own way. The more, the merrier!

You and I could not enjoy the fantastic quality of football available at Weber without all the other crazy fans in all their cheesy glory.

Look at it this way: If the boys work hard and win games on the field, the cheese doesn't matter. If the boys do not work hard and lose games they should have won, the cheese doesn't matter. SO THE CHEESE DOES NOT MATTER!

If you want to expend the psychic energy to get your panties in a wad, do it over something important, like performance on the field, recruiting, grades, sportsmanship, or citizenship.

GOOD ON YOU and the creative and loyal booster types who are thinking this stuff up and making the effort, B2BPG! Lack of marketing energy and creativity has been one of the biggest complaints on this board!
