Bears beat Aztecs!

Nice job Bears! A road victory against a solid MWC team. Beitzal with a career high in points.

What's up with that idiot ref who kept us down? Calling a technical fould in 10 seconds left? Troy was dogging him bad!

That was a great win, wow, I'm impressed!

Now someone explain the RPI to me. We're 244 and behind 237 South Carolina Upstate who is 1-12. I realize strength of schduled is factored in but if you never win what's the point?

It's a joke.

I'm surpirsed nobody is posting on this. This is argueably the biggest basketball win in 19 years.

Also, nothing on the Ft. Collins Tribune website either. I guess their writers are in bed by 9:00 so it was too late to get a story posted.

So what happened Troy, did you have to rip the refs a new one or what?

The San Diego paper just rips UNC a new one, I haven't seen this type of smugness since we stopped playing ND State.

San Diego is dumb...They think their team is really good this year (11-4) by beating 9 scrubs. They finally scheduled a decent team for a home game and of course got schooled by the Bears!

Isn't beating Colorado State considered a bigger win to UNC because of the in-state factor?

C'mon people! Boyle is right, this is our biggest win since moving up! The best thing about this is we're winning with out our two best players.

That's hilarious! NDSU was rather difficult to tolerate but at least we own them in football over the last 12 years. I still can't believe we won this game I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. I thought UNC winning a game like this went against the laws of physics. I wonder when UNC will start getting some respect from media and the rpi.

I know it is like beating a dead horse but the trib is the worst excuse for a newspaper to ever exist. Not one article about this win is an abomination.

Not to get totally off topic but I actuall wrote an email to the sports editor over at the tribune complaining about the lack of coverage for UNC and the more recent exposure to CSU. I basically wrote that CSU has their own media in ft.collins and the tribune needs to focus on their own university. His explanation is that in the past year or two there have been more CSU alumns in the weld county area demanding more print exposure. Basically people wanted more CSU exposure. So...UNC fans and alumns need to do the same I guess. Start bitching about it!

Yes and no, CSU is bigger in the sense they are 30 minutes away and always look down their noses at us so psychologically it's huge but SDSU is a much, much, much, much, better team and this was a road win. CSU would be a 6th or 7th place Big Sky team this year, they just lost to a D-II at home for crying out loud! :) :o  :D :P

Notes from the trip, or rip--depending on how you want to look at it...

The "T": everyone missed what happened, including the refs. Out of a timeout, only four guys hit the floor. At the next dead ball, Figures goes to come in, but the ref rang up the bench. Explanation is that you can only play four when its your only option. Utterly confusing, but yet we got a defensive stop with four on the floor. That said, the old fart couldn't keep up and was constantly in the wrong position for calls all evening long, making it up as he went.

The Tribune is currently undergoing another editorial change in sports, which actually will hurt their CSU coverage. S. Scott Rosenberg, who had been covering CSU, is reportedly the new sports editor. We'll see what plays out from there. Judging from online, not much, since Tom's column today is about last night's loss for the Rams.

Fisher was classy in his post game, and even made mention of the fact that we had outrebounded CSU by a large margin. That was overlooked by Mr. Mcgrane--probably because it didn't help his premise (see Wright, Tom). Also, know that their radio crew--which includes one of the voices of the Padres--were very complimentary about the Bears.

I'll say this, though, at least McGrane didn't rip into Jabril, who made sure he touched his toes to shut up a heckler at the horn.

That was fun--can we do it again, dad? :P

This was definitely bigger than beating CSU---CSU is in the middle of a massive rebuilding project and we SHOULD have won that game......Could a Big Sky tourney run be possible now?

There are a few quirks in the RPI but it's probably fairly accurate. It shows us ahead of Air Force and Oregon State which is surprising.

The RPI is all math, it doesn't take into account head-to-head wins, it's just who beat who, it might take into account margin, but I'm not sure. The official tornament commitee RPI isn't made public, but most big sites have their formulas pretty close to or exactly what it is, so there may be some variances from source to source. I'm pretty sure I got all of that right, but if I'm wrong go ahead and correct me so we all get the right info.

The formula is flawed though if South Carolina Upstate is rated ahead of us at 1-12 with one win being at SMU who has an RPI of 316. :x

Wow! This is an awsome win for the program, especially in its 2nd year under Boyle. I think he will take this program far!!

So UNC beat San Diego State in San Diego and San Diego St won at New Mexico in front of close to 18,000 fans...

Weber played at New Mexico in December and had 12 points at halftime. It was Weber's second lowest point total in its 46 year history. The final was 64-32.
