Bears: hottest team in WAC baseball!

UNC completed their second straight conference sweep today! The Bears swept Grand Canyon this weekend to improve their WAC record to 10-7, and their overall mark 15-25. With the wins UNC has greatly enhanced their chances of making the WAC tournament. They have won 7 straight games and have a firm hold on 5th place in the conference.

Recap:
Game 1: Brett Minnick was the star of the game going 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI. Allen Cook was terrific in relief and earned the win with 5 2/3 innings pitched yielding just 3 hits while striking out 8 K's.
Game 2: UNC spots Grand Canyon 9 runs and then comes back from a 9-0 deficit to win 10-9 in walk off fashion in the 9th. Dean Lawson was the star for UNC going 5-6 including driving in the tying run with 2 outs in the 9th and then scoring the winning run on Cole Maltese' single.
Game 3: The Bears were in control from early on in the series finale and won 6-2. Dean Lawson was again a star going 2-3 with a double and 4 RBI.
