Bears in Laramie

As I write this, UNC down 11-9 with 11:58 in the first half. The Bears got off to a 7-0 start but has gone stagnant offensively. And I'm sure many of you remember the foul disparity the last time we played in Wyoming almost two years ago to the day.... well, eight minutes in, and we have had 7 fouls whistled against us compared to 0 against the Pokes.. The last foul call, you could hear B.J. on the KFKA courtside mic saying "Are you kidding me?!". Please, don't let this be another one of those games....

Ouch. 0 zero points in last 6 minutes, Wyoming opens up to a 10-point spread, 22-12. Scratch what I said about the offense going "stagnant" in my last post. They are down right frigid and punchless right now.

A 21-2 run to end the half for Wyoming. UNC goes 12 minutes (and counting) since last field goal. We can complain about the officials, but we're not hitting our free throws either. We have no go-to guy yet for situations like this, the guy (like Beitzel) who can break a team out of a cold streak quickly. Proctor, Garnica, Tevin, Unruh, Osborne and Hawk all with 2 fouls. The good news is that we have a 10-deep rotation at this point in the season. Gotta come out the gates strong in the second half.

A quick start to the second half offensively. Down 50-35 with 13 to play. Everytime UNC gets within this range, Wyoming hits a big shot to keep the Bears an arm length or two away. Offense is coming together, but defense is going to be key in putting this game back to within reach.

I was up in Laramie last night, and I can say without question that was the most absurdly officiated game I've ever seen. An offensive foul for raising your knee to shoot a layup??? You're taught to raise your knee when you shoot a layup as soon as you start playing basketball! I'm not trying to excuse the loss, because we did play poorly, but there were A LOT of calls made against us last night that just boggled my mind.

Can we stop scheduling games in Wyoming? Seems like we just get jacked by the refs every time.
