wow, seven...maybe eight FBS transfers? I knew of the OL from Tulsa and the QB from S. Miss, but I had no idea about possibly eight. This could be a good thing, but could be a bad thing.

Does anyone know who the 7 or 8 new FBS guys are, what position, and from what FBS school? And the 2 new JUCO guys would be helpful too?

Actually they were updated last year for the 2014 season which would show what they did in the 2013 season. The updates this year will show what they did in the 2014 season. Those updates are not out yet but I'm sure they will be out soon. Remember that they are probably waiting for the new freshman and transfers to get on campus for fall practice so they can get their pictures too and then we will probably see the new roster for this season. But, there is always some of you out there that try to be negative about everything!

Just wondering about the seven or eight FBS transfers.Are they eligible this season to play or will they sit out a year because of NCAA transfer rules?

Maybe they updated the bios but they still show the RS freshman as sophomores which every other school in the country seems to be able to understand what a redshirt is and eligibility... I know it's really so complicated... :roll: :lol:

Blofed - Maybe if you read my last post slowly you will understand it. Its obvious that you didn't yet. They haven't updated the bios yet since last year. When they do, it will update what they did in 2014. So, when they get the roster out for the 2015 season, it will show what was done in 2014. The only updating they've done is for Spring ball.. There were some new players they added to that and some that have left. But they haven't updated the bios since last season. I'm sure they will finish that when all the new freshmen and transfers get here on campus and they get a roster picture. So...of course you will see the 2013 accomplishments now because that is what is what was on the 2014 season roster. Just like in the 2015 season you will see what accomplishments the players had in 2014. Most of the colleges have not finished their updates or a few are just beginning too. You can't have an updated 2015 roster without all your new players.

When you transfer from FBS to FCS, you don't have to sit a year. So, they are all eligible to play immediately.

Bearfan15, you are not really in tune with the process. Look at any decent Sports Information Department in the nation, and bios are updated. First school I googled has updated bios: http://www.goeags.com/sports/m-footbl/2015-16/bios/boatright_t.j._snck" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was in journalism for several years, so I'm not just blowing smoke here. At the conclusion of the football season, most SID's update roster info during the winter lull. At the latest, it's done in the summer.

You make a fair point that the roster isn't set yet, but that is not the point. The roster needs to be continually updated and managed -- I'm sorry but that is just a basic job requirement. Many schools update rosters weekly (this is mainly the big FCS schools) - CU does it with football. You will see with my Eastern Washington example above that they already have a note on the 2015 season: "listed at starter as center on depth chart." -- That little nugget of info is huge! How hard is it for UNC to do that?

UNC has good people working in the department and I don't mean to throw them under the bus. This all goes back to being cheap -- they have two employees in the department. All they need to do is hire an intern for credit or a small stipend and this can be his or her sole job. Ideally, they would hire another full-time employee but that will never happen.

The football roster bios are bad, but I feel worse for the other sports. Those get updated even less frequently.

Here are a few more FCS school I just quickly googled. As you can see, Portland State and Montana have updated bios through spring ball. Northern Arizona has all updated info from 2014. This is the norm. It's just disappointing.

New LB transfer from Washington State is on the roster - Kyle Newsom. He played one season at a JC, walked on in Pullman and is now a Bear. I like the depth we will have at the position. It's much needed, as we had tons of injuries at the position.
