Beat #1: Antelope Valley

Well...Antelope Valley will be visiting Weber tomorrow night. I expect a thorough ass kicking. Everyone will see the floor tomorrow. I'm hoping a couple of our guys (Richardson and Kiko) can get on track with some good mins in this one. I'm hoping both can find their grove and build some confidence playing against lesser competition. This is completely a tuneup game for our tournament next week. Things to work on:

1. TOUGHNESS
2. Defense (Antelope shouldn't score more than 30)
3. Rebounding
4. Limiting Turnovers
5. Getting the ball inside the paint
6. Offensive efficiency

Central Michigan I'm guessing should be a bit better than Antelope. I just hope we get some kinks worked out so our Wildcats end up playing really well next week.

If I was Rahe...

I'd start:

Cannon
Senglin
Baker
Bolomboy
Braxton

First off the bench:
Gittens
Hill
Richardson
Kiko
Jefferson

Can I ask why they shouldn't? It seems a similar statement was made about So. Virginia and they put up 57. Weber's giving up 72 PPG, even with SV averaged in. Weber's D certainly hasn't been anything to hang their hat on. Antelope U has won 5 or their 6 games played-- look out! a more experienced team coming to town-- and are averaging 87 PPG. Sure, there's a big difference between programs but if you can knock down shots, Weber's bound to give you some looks.

The really good news is that this one's on KJAZZ for the whole state to enjoy.

SW...I think you are looking at the wrong team. We are playing the University of Antelope Valley, not Antelope Valley College (they are a JC, that would be really embarrassing). Here is their schedule: https://www.uavpioneers.com/schedule/0/1.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yep, who would have guessed there were so many Antelope Valley schools? OK, averaging 67 PPG and still more games under their belt. I still very much doubt they're held to under 30.

This is the first year of their program and former Weber player BJ Porter is one of their assistant coaches. As I have absolutely zero interest in Antelope Valley or this game, I only know this because Paul "fun facts" Grua mentioned both of these things on the SDSU broadcast the other night.

Do you guys realize that oldrunner hasn't posted since last Saturday....not a single post about the SDSU game....someone better check on him....

Hey sac, nice couple of wins by your hornets.

More of the same excuses. Dude just doesn't get it.

“Believe it or not, these first two games have been really good for us. We’re figuring out our warts,” Rahe said. “We’ve got a sense of what we’ve got to do to improve, and that’s what the preseason is for.”

“When you’ve got a few new guys they’re still not comfortable, so it slows them down while they’re playing with some guys that have played before,” Rahe said. “The guys that have been with us know it. They’re much more comfortable, but now we’re trying to combine it. It takes time to put it all together. That’s where we’re at with this team.”

“We’ve just got to keep chopping wood, and before you know it, you’ve got enough wood for the winter,” Rahe said. “Everybody wants it to happen really fast, but we play a tough schedule. We’re learning, we’re getting comfortable, we may not be playing our best basketball for a while, but we will. When we do, then we’re going to see the results, and it’s going to be pretty good.”

Thanks SWeberCat02, we are playing pretty well and our team hasn't shown that they can't replace McKinney and Garrity.....When you get a chance to see Marcus Graves you'll understand how we got the start we have...

Olds is way too positive and upbeat for all the cat piling on Rahe.

I challenged Olds to a running game. It's like a drinking game without booze for people that like to run. Every time that coach made an excuse in the post game. Olds had to run 5 miles. He will likely be running for another week for all of the excuses and misinformation that coach threw out there Monday night.

It was him, he wears neon pink running Speedo with a picture of Bernie Sanders on the back, right?

Graves has really elevated his game after not playing much his freshman season (wasn't many minutes available playing behind McKinney and Garrity). Crazy thing about Sac's two road wins is that they've done it with a team not expected to do too much this season. Rahe can't even beat PAC-12 teams with his best teams. But then those games are just "preseason" and are only used to get better and "figure out the warts" .

I think it was him but almost everyone over here wears a picture of Bernie Sanders or Queen Hillary....lol

(I almost vomited when I thought of Hillary in a neon pink speedo) If you haven't already figured it out, I am one of the 26 conservatives in California....

Wow, when did CA break the 20 mark? What a great time to be conservative there.

Whats with the attacks on Olds? He is one of the most faithful of Weber State fans. Oh so he doesn't agree with the current majority. SO WHAT! How quickly our opinions change with wins and losses. How we are pushed so easily by the breeze of success and failure. There is nothing worse that an ignorant mob, which admittedly I'm a part. Olds is only trying to talk us off the ledge and being rational and positive. To many good posters have left because of this same crap occurring now. Come on we are better than this.

I know there are a lot of pissed off fans on this forum. I just want to point something out. There were a lot of fans who wanted Mac gone because his teams weren't "getting it done." Look how well that turned out. It has taken 4 seasons to get back to where we were. Yeah, watching Randy's teams underachieve in the preseason is tough. I HATE losing to USU; especially when we are more talented. I HATE that we haven't beaten the Y since 2003. I HATE losing to teams from schools we consider lesser than us. It is the nature of the beast. Last season was awful. This season hasn't started very well. Losing to USU again really sucks. But we all have to admit that USU and SDSU are both solid DI programs. Beating a team that hasn't lost in two seasons, at their place wasn't going to happen. Did anyone actually think we'd win on Monday night?

So...we are two games into the season lets step away from the ledge. It isn't a pretty sight seeing Olds get attacked for being rational and positive. Some of you wanted to ban another poster on the football side for saying the exact same thing you are saying now. HELL...yes, I'm pissed with where we are and what has happened to our program. Crap home schedule, under achieving play in the middle, and worst of all a garbage neutral tournament. But it is what it is. Lets be bigger than Griz fans and get back to what we do best. Talk basketball.
