Is it too much of a pipe dream to hope that Beau stays close to home?

According to that site, no offers from any FBS programs…yet…still a long way off ‘til signing day.

Everyone has an offer from Army and Navy. Not dissing them, just sayin'.

I talked with Beau yesterday he's taking a recruiting trip to Oregon state to play with Gavin or he wants to go to play at Cal poly or Yale. Beau is a 4.35 student and is looking more into looking at schools for his major more than football.

Well, I wish him well. Love to see local talent stay local and continue to build the program. But, it a 4.35 kid has a shot at an Ive League Education, you'd be nuts to pass on that.

I don’t think the Ivies give “athletic” schollies. But they probably have some other kind of aid packages that are “non-athletic” related. I agree, hard to see someone pass up an opportunity for that kind of an education.

With an endowment over 19 billion and some very wealthy alumni Yale can be very creative ;)

I don't know the kid personally, but word among many of Beau's peers is that he's a long time juicer. I hope it's not at all true and is just gossip from the jealous. You'd hope a kid with such a high GPA would be smart enough to avoid such things.

Regarding Yale, Jackson Cummings (star RB that graduated from Rocklin in 2009) was going to attend the school on some kind of grant but changed his mind at the last minute after Jim Harbaugh convinced him to come to Stanford as a preferred walk-on. Apparently, Yale was very creative with how Cummings education was going to be covered. However, the allure of Harbaugh, Stanford, and their rising football program was a little to much for them to overcome.

Yup. I'm a USC fan threw family ties. I told many fellow Trojan fans to step away from the ledge when the sanctions came down and scholly reductions were included. I told them something very similar to the above.

According to the Bee, we landed a local stud DE!

That's a great verbal. Sounds like he might be the next TJ if he's lined up as tight end.

I think its sad that a kid works his butt off in the weight room and people call him a juicer. I know Beau really well and he's a great kid that works hard. I personally see the workout program Coach Cooper puts these kids through for 4 yrs and it gets results. So I can almost guarantee the rumors are just jealous people talking. By the way Nevada offered last night.

I was in high school not too long ago. Our varsity football roster had 42 players and I know for a fact that at least 5 were cycling through steroids for their Jr./Sr. years. I know because I was offered the same product and watched them inject themselves dozens of times, even on campus.

I also believe that steroid use at the junior college level is a major, major problem these days. You see plenty of campaigns warning kids, and the pros test (to an extent). Even the NCAA tests, though usually only resulting in warnings and unfixed disciplinary actions which vary by program. At the JC level there are typically no testing standards. The pool of players at the JC level is also more desperate for success and willing to put themselves at risk. I know of two players that juiced in high school and for two years at a NorCal JC. One ended up at NAU, one at SAC. Both had their careers ended by injuries shortly after transfering.

To get back to my point... Sure steriod abuse in HS is a bigger problem than most are willing to admit. But anonymously accusing a high schooler of using drugs is weak sauce. I think evaluating a player's performance is fair game, but steroid accusations can be extremely harmful. Hell, a recruiter will likely Google Beau's name and come across this thread. How fair is that? What does that say about us as fans?

Anyways... Off my soapbox.

Glad to hear that from someone that seems to know him. I'll be rooting for Beau and GB during their run through the D1 playoffs.

I hope you are not referring to me, as I certainly didn't accuse him of anything. I simply stated that I hope the rumors I've been hearing for a while now aren't at all true. As you mentioned, performance enhancing drugs are quite common in HS these days. When you hear a rumor like this from a couple different sources, you begin to wonder whether there is anything to it. According to bryceman, who claims to know him personally, there is nothing to it. I'm very happy to hear that. I've really enjoyed watching Beau play the past couple years. He seems like a great kid.

As for potential recruiters stumbling upon a thread like this, they got bigger things to worry about if internet message boards are how they go about getting information. I highly doubt they buy into rumors anymore than they trust player evaluations made my people frequenting these types of sites. I wouldn't worry about it.

Like I said I know Beau well I work at Granite bay in the football program. Beau is a great kid that works hard if I saw like a dramatic growth in size I would say yes but its been gradual. I try to talk him I to going to Sac state all the time. But he's more I to his education than football. He actually has said if he didn't get an offer he wouldn't play at all next year. Like I said before just a great kid.

Like I said, I'm so glad to hear that. I would have been supremely disappointed to find out otherwise. I've enjoyed watching Beau and his Grizzlies play the past few years. I'm hoping they are able to recover from a difficult start to the season and repeat as SJS section champs and earn a birth into the Open or D1 Regional game. After last night, so far so good.

While I fully understand and support Beau's decision to choose a school based upon academics, selfishly, I wish you were a better salesman. :) He'd sure look great in a Sac State uniform and, boy, could the Hornets really use him.
