Will be arriving in Cheney from the west side on Friday. Just wondering if there is any activities going on in Cheney on Friday? Also any activities going on after the game? Are the Cheney merchants doing anything special? Any gathering places after the game that Eagle fans like to congregate? Recommendations for dinner afterwards?

A 157 views and the only suggestion is the Basement bar? After the game do people just get the Hell outta town? Is there anything worthwhile in Airway Heights or do people just head for home?

As far as organized after parties, don't know of any. As or our tailgate, we'll stay after the game and party in the upper lot as we celebrate the BIG W. Then we'll likely grab some grub, and see where the night leads. :thumb:

Besides tailgating...there is another event happening in Downtown Cheney that includes the community. I know I'm not thrilled about giving up prime tailgating hours, but I think this is an awesome opportunity to promote Cheney and connect the University more with local business, which in return can be a huge benefit for the future of EWU and the Gateway.

We should all make an appearance!

Good! Things are shaping up nicely. We should roll into town at about 3'Oclock. Now we have some choices!

EWU Beagals I might be too old to hang out at the Basement but thanks for the invite!
P.S. like the picture!

Can't make it into town until Saturday morning... any one out there going that wouldn't mind grabbing a signed copy of Cowherd's book for me? I'd gladly pay ya for your troubles. Thought it was worth a shot!

Okay this is a little late but spent the week prepping the house for painting.
My magnetic EWU helmet stickons arrived from the EWU book store on Monday (ordered on Fri.) and put them on the car when making a stop in Renton on our way to Cheney. A few minutes later just past Issaquah gave a honk and a wave to a Travel trailer with a big EWU eagle on back.

Well Saturday morning we went from Eagledawg central (Cheney Holiday Inn) down to Rokko's for the Breakfast and Bloody Mary special. While waiting in line to place my order I notice the TV cameras and lights and my wife says "who's that?" Well it was athletic director Bill Chaves and Colin Cowherd. After they were done with there TV segment did they run off? No, they hung around for the better part of an hour chatting with fans and even posed with pictures with fans (including me) and then he went outside to address the crowd when the cheerleaders and band showed up. Had a great time talking to all the other fans and then walked across town to go to the game.

Kudos to following:
AD Chaves and his crew for promoting the game and getting a sellout!
To the students for showing up in force a month before school! (we brought two with us).
All the fans that showed up all in red!
The weather for not being too hot!

Think about what could have been. I was worried people would just watch on TV and attendance would be like a play off game and only have 6'000 fans there. There were a few empty seats but not many and the fans made plenty of noise!

I wish ESPN would have promoted the game. I brought this up before and I was told that there were some spots on tv in Spokane but I believe those were only local spots. I saw NOTHING on the ESPN website or on ESPN 1 or 2 or on ESPNU. By contrast this week I saw at least 5 spots for "Zack Zenner and S. Dakota State taking on Missouri" with a clip of Zack Zenner running down the sideline. And other spots for other games saying how college football kicks off here (a week after EWU/SHSU) but all in all EWU put on a great show!

There may have been a sense of liability for ESPN, worried if we would pull it off. I'm pretty sure we did, and it was a good time all around.
