Being Optimistic After MSU Game.. Title and Playoffs...

I am a very optimistic WSU fan. I never lose faith until it's all said and done. After a win tomorrow, we would be 5-2 in BSC play, and 6-3 overall. If we also win at NAU in two weeks, we will finish at 6-2 in BSC and 7-3 overall. Without the Texas Tech game, is that enough to get us a at-large playoff spot? We would have a win over a top 10 team (U of M) and a top 15 team (MSU). NAU has been in the top 25 most of the season, and with a win this week, they might move back into the top 25, so that could be another top 25 team win. Is that impressive enough to the commitee? Our worst lost was at Sac State. The only other loss was to EWU, a top 25 team. So is it nessisary to have to win at Tech Tech to get a playoff spot? If we win out, we shall finish at 8-3 overall. With a loss to Texas Tech, we finish at 7-4, identical to last years team, who got a bid to the playoffs. Also, let's be optimistic. And say we win out last two conference games, and by a miracle, EWU losses at ISU, we would finish will the same record as EWU and one of the Montana schools. So does that end up in a 3 way tie for the crown, or does EWU take it and we don't shared becuase they beat us? But we beat one of the Montana schools... So how does that all pan out given the scenario above. So what do you all think about the Texas Tech game and a chance at the crown and getting into the playoffs?

I love the optimism and any true Weber fan has been thinking about a possible outcome. If we win the next two games then I think it will be pretty hard to deny a shot in the first round of the playoffs. If MSU can pull off a win in Montana then I think it is for sure. That would knock Montana out of the playoffs with 3 conference losses and tie us with MSU. With Montana gone and out that is huge for us. This is a possible scenario. No matter what if we win the next 2 games it ties us with the Montana schools in conference record and we will have 7 FCS wins. This is enough to qualify us technically for the playoffs.

Tommorow will be huge!!!! Go Weebs

With a 3-way tie at the top the committe has no choice but to put all 3 big sky teams in the playoffs. It happened last year without a 3-way tie. But a lot of things have to happen for that to occur. We have a tough game today that is a must-win in order to keep our title and playoff hopes alive. We have 2 tough big sky games to end the season. In all reality I see Ewash winning their last game and finishing 7-1. If we can win our last 2 games we'll end up 6-2 in the sky. Whoever wins the Montana/Montana State game will end up 6-2 but in both cases we'll hold the head to head tiebreaker over both teams. This in turn would give us the 1st at-large playoff bid out of the big sky. And the committe almost always takes at least 2 teams out of the sky, sometimes 3. So if we can win out we'll definitely get an at-large playoff bid!!!

It's my opinion that if we take care of our own house( beat MSU then NAU) ....even IF EWU beats ISU (and we ALL know that ISU ALWAYS wins their last game) We should end up second in the conference and the # 2 selection from the Big Sky to enter the playoffs. IF ISU wins, EWU will have 2 losses...we will have 2 losses and tie for 1st place in the conference but still be the 2nd selection from the Big Sky by virtue of our loss to EWU. This is all predicated on the fact that we beat UM and MSU, then those 2 teams play each other and 1 of them gets to embrace their 3rd loss. Am I on track here?
