Bench Play

Now i know it may seem concerning Jim Hayford is only playing 6-7 guys a game. But if you look at all great teams in the country, that is how it is. The starters play around 35-38min per game, and a few key bench players make their mark. Have to play your best available in order to win tough games against teams like Seattle U. Although i do think we need a backup guard in the mix, wether it be Daniel Hill, or Felix Von Hoff. Parker/Tyler both played all 40 minutes last game, which can be concerning later on in the year when players are getting banged up and fatigued. I love what im seeing from Ognjen off the bench, talented scorer that is a hard matchup for bigger players. What do you guys think?

I thought our bigs played very well against Seattle U's athletic frontcourt. OG and Jois were really attacking the basket at the end of the game. Sometimes so much that I thought they could have kicked it out a few more times. I am really just knitpicking, because I thought the team played well down the stretch. I don't think last years team would have finished that game with a win.

JM15 what BSC team is most like that Seattle U team?

I would say North Dakota. Very athletic team that has a good backcourt. Although I think North Dakota is better than Seattle U. Portland St is also similar where they rely on their backcourt heavily. Portland State has come out of the gates and won some games, it will be interesting to see where they stack up against EWU.

Agreed on OG, he's going to be a gamer. Overall, I still think we need more production off of the bench. In the UW game in particular, you could see the drop-off in production once our starters started getting in a lot of foul trouble late in the game. It'd be nice to get in some situations in games where we could get those guys some more experience.

Overall, really impressed with this team so far. I think we may be a year away from a Big Sky Championship, but you never know. This team definitely has the talent to give a lot of BSC teams some problems and the best thing about it is that they will all be back next season. :thumb:
