Bengals v Cougars

Apparently we'll be opening up at Wazzu to kick off the 2011 season against the Cougars. And Greg Wrubell of KSL is reporting the BYU Cougars have finalized their 2011 schedule by setting a date with the Bengals. Sounds like lots of cougars will be on the prowl... keep an eye on your younger brothers.

If you have to play two for money--the two opponents couldn't be more perfect in my opinion. It looks like the BYU game will come mid or late year.

Sure, decent opponents with regional appeal; although, 0-2 none the less. I just keep hoping ISU won't need to start every season 0-2.... 0-2 means 8-1 or 7-2 will get you in the playoffs.

The next round of APR hits in the spring could very well include a ban from post season play. I am not trying to be totally negative here, but I do see this coming down the road. With that said, ISU may show enough progress (improvement) to gain brownie points with the NCAA. If that is the case they will only be hit with additional scholarship reductions and reduced practice time again for the second straight year.

Attention Jay Heater...might be good to investigate this one, eh?

Teams with Academic Progress Rates below 900 face additional sanctions, increasing in severity for each consecutive year the team fails to meet the standard:

* Year 1: a public warning letter for poor performance
* Year 2: restrictions on scholarships and practice time
* Year 3: loss of postseason competition for the team
* Year 4: restricted membership status for an institution. The school’s entire athletics program is penalized and will not be considered a part of Division I

i really hope there isn't a post season ban, but i guess before we worry about that we'll need to worry about getting a few wins... Kramer will have a lot of work to do to right the ship.
