Top 3 EWU FB GAMES since 2000
Great picks...You must be an ex-player. Taiwan Jones is the best running back I've ever seen. So surprised it didn't convert to the NFL at running back.
W. Vs Delaware
W. Vs North Dakota State
W. Vs Montana '10

Top 3 TEAR JERKING LOSSES since 2000
L. Vs Sam Houston '04
L. Vs Towson

I think Taiwans ability did transfer well in the nfl however, I think he's on the wrong team and is under utilized. I also remember Matt Nichols throwing 3 picks to the same player in the same game. Single handedly placing that man on the all conference list. So idk about the "great decision making" part. I thought Matt Nichols was good but nothing special. He's the only guy that got 4 years as starting qb and he did absolutely nothing with it. He's the only EWU qb since 2003 to not win a big sky conference title. I once questioned Wulff if Nichols was "ready" to lead the team... Let's just say that conversation didn't end we'll for me. But after 4 years as starter no conference titles and only one playoff win (I think). I know he held or still holds some records but I always saw him "ok".

I think Vernon Adams could potentially be the best EWU Qb if he gets better. Right now he has an excellent resume already but I can't put him in front of BLM Bc BLM made the clutch plays.

But under agree that Taiwan jones was the most feared player for two seasons. And Vernon Adams is the most feared player now. For those reasons they're both in my top 5.

Like I said...and we can point to less than perfect performances from all the QB's. Picking nits...

I remember Matt dismantling # 2 seed McNeese on the road in the playoffs, having two of the best performances in the history of WA Griz, and willing us into the playoffs in a masterpiece against NAU in 2009...again on the road. Btw, at the end of that season we were almost as beat up on D as we were in oline at the end of 2011... :coffee:

Beating #1 seed McNeese State on the road was def a high point, but again, no rings. Not one ring on that man's trophy case. 4 years - 0 Rings. Just calling a spade a spade. I'd probably place Kyle Pardon above home.

 No rings on Meyer's, Padron's, or Vernon's hand either dork.

You bet it was. One of the more fun games that I remember. I knew we had em as soon as I saw our D line start dancing to soulja boy on our way out the tunnel. Next week wasn't as cool though...

As for QBs, they all have their pros and cons, and all are crazy talented. I'd put E$ at the top, though VA could easily surpass him when it's all said and done.

Oh, and no EWU best-of is complete without a nod to Isaiah Trufant.

For VA to surpass him he will need to win a National Championship - this year. E$ never did that.

Not exactly true. The 2010 team won the national championship, not the individual. If we had the 2010 defense, I believe we would have won the 2013 championship and if the 2010 team had our defense, they probably wouldn't have made it past the semis.

So you think the 2013 defense was worse than the 2010 defense? Bo played with the 2012 defense and still won the Walter Payton Award.

You mean 2011?

Yes he did, and he didn't get a ring that year. Winning the championship didn't dictate recognizing he was a great player.

2010 defense was better than any year's since, and BLM was a much better QB in 2011 than he was in 2010. So I'd say the 2010 championship was really a product of a great overall team rather than any individual player.

This.

Not taking anything away from BLM's outstanding run, but give Meyer or Nichols the scenario of Hoffman returning kicks, Matt Johnson locking down half the field or dominating an opposing team's best player (eg Sczieur), JC making 18 tackles, Tyler Jolley blocking an extra point, Renard owning the line of scrimmage, and Matt Johnson blitzing with JC on 2nd and short with the championship on the line and I think they'd both have a ring.

Vernon has 2 Big Sky champion rings, Erik Meyer has 2 and Kyle padron has 1. Matt Nichols who was a very good ewu qb, started 4 seasons and didn't win the conference title once. The very next season after his departure, EWU wins that National Championship. I'm just stating facts.

Not to mention both Erik Meyer and BLM won the Walter Payton Award. Vernon Adams might have very well won it had Jimmy G not had his tremendous season. VA still has 2 more seasons to win it btw. 4 years. No rings.

It's a team sport. Think Dan Marino.

This is all subjective and everyone has their favorites, but remember the game against NDSU in the playoffs 2010. The defense wasn't exactly stellar and Bo was terrible for 3 qtrs. He kept shooting himself in the foot with int's, etc. But in the fourth qtr. you could see his attitude change, he was not about to loose this game. Great catch by Nik and some gutsy fourth down plays and we won. Was NDSU a great team, yes. They went on to win three consecutive National Championships. Without that win, no National Championship, but a great season. Yes, it's a team sport, but it takes players like JC Sherritt, the Johnson Bros., Taiwan Jones, Kauf, Nik Edwards, etc., to win a National Championship, players that sacrifice everything. Without any of those players and others it may not have happened. Without Bo, no way. (just look at the Championship Game film). No one cannot have a serious conversation about 'best ever' without including him in it.

Everyone is including Bo in the conversation of "best ever". It's just that your previous comments seem to downplay the accomplishments of other quarterbacks in order to make Bo's seem stronger.

I'm surprised nobody or at least very few, are mentioning Cooper Kupp. I know he's only played one full season thus far, but what a season it was! It's hard not to immediately think a QB is the answer because he does so much...but if we're talking about the best "player," I think it will be very likely that this kid will be at least top 3 of all time by the end of his career.

Cooper is definitely on the right track but he needs at least one more great season under his belt to be in this conversation. Although i do believe he will be at least top 3 WR when it's all said and done.

I think Kupp is arguably a top three, but I agree with Falkin in that he needs another season under his belt. I think in the end he will be the greatest receiver this school has ever seen. He just isn't there yet. Kaufman snatched us from the jaws of defeat on many occasions. Although Kupp has contributed immensely, you don't really see him as the deciding factor like Kaufman often would be.

We'll never know how many players there were that had lots of promise in their younger years and nagging injuries killed that potential. In order to be considered one of the Baldest of Eagles  a player needs to finish his playing career.

I agree with the above. He did amazing things in just one season, but I think to be in this discussion he needs another couple of solid seasons under his belt. A lot of the guys on this list were 3-4 year starters.

EWURanger,
I saw Cooper numerous times on the field with their 7 on 7. Wasn't to concern about him, we know what that young man is capable of doing. I was really concerned of our healing injuries from last year, and they all doing Great. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:    As I stated a few days ago, I saw Tevin McDonald running the hills. He was there when we got to Basketball Court, on the side where the Handy Cap Parking is where they run the hills, Tevin is making Outstanding Progress. We watched him for about 15 minutes, he looks "outstanding". Also in one of the 7 on 7, he made a pick and ran about 90 yards for a TD. I know that is just practice, Our team will be ready for the Season. Tevin stated he was on his way back to California on Thursday, for about 8 days, and returning for the beginning of training. I think Recruits are due back July 29, rest of team is due back the next day. Saw somewhere, Athletic were in Tri Cities for a few days and that we have a Big Following there. Shuttle Buses should be ready for August 23, Game. Go Eagles!!!!! p.s. can't wait to see Nic Sblendorio, Hoffman, Kriefles, and many more of our Players getting a chance to get on the field. We have some "GEMS in the Rough", awaiting for their time to shine.   :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Vic Wallace

Vic;
Who was the walk on running back from either Cda or Sandpoint that looked so good in practice and scrimmages this spring?
