I'm mostly amazed that there hasn't been any Lolggies stop by to beotch about the thread.
Why is that? Because of the great amount of homer-ism being shown on here? I honestly believed that you guys were the best team in the state last year and got good seats to watch you guys beat down on BYU in the Marriott Center. I was excited for that game and Weber showed that even with a guy like Lillard they couldn't be the best team in the state. Yes you laid the beat down on USU during their worst season in a long time but you guys had the pieces to really have a special team last year. I had high hopes that you would beat BYU, win your conference and maybe even get a win in the NCAA tourney. If you couldn't do any of those things with Lillard I really don't think that you'll be the best team in the state next year. I think that there are really too many unknowns right now with both Weber and USU to make a good prediction of how things will go. BYU is going to be a solid team once again though and I'd say that they are the team to beat returning Davies and Haws.

U stupid fu*kin aggies

Im sure Losing to byu didn't have anything to do with losing our 2 two starting Forwards for that game, & 8 of the guys puking their guts out all day of the game

Howdy Provo...good to hear from you. Have you been able to catch any games up in Logan this summer? If so, how are the Aggies looking? Should be a completely different team from last year. Heard about another summer injury. Bummer deal man, hope Marvin gets better soon. Good thing it happened in the summer, right?

Anyway, I can understand your homerism comment, this is a Weber fan thread, but I, in my defense, try to look at these things in the most balanced light possibly. Lets all be honest, BYU, USU, and Weber are, at the moment, far ahead of Utah, UVU, and SUU (UVU one never knows. I think it'll take Hunsaker a year or so to rebuild his team, but they could very likely be playing in the CIT again next year. That conference isn't the toughest).

BYU makes sense as being the team with the best chance of wearing the state crown. They are returning a lot of letterman who can come in right away and replace their starters. Carlino, could be better and even if he isn't, they have Haws back along with Davis, Zylstra, Austin, and some nice JCs. As for USU...you guys have way too many question marks, yes some solid recruits are coming in, but then again, you all thought that Thoseby, Bruneel, Berger, Thornton, and Reed were the best class in a while too. Bruneel played in a far better league than Butterfield and Harris. No matter, Medlin, Reed, and Shaw are a nice little core to build the team around. If Berger doesn't RS, he should be the starter at the 3 to start next year and Roland is a nice PG, no way Davis is going to be ready for the instate battles this fall, maybe for confernce, but don't expect too much from him. Walker III is a far better PG than Davis and he wasn't the most amamzing as a Fresh. Yes, I too expect Davis to be good, and if he lights it up next year, I will willingly eat crow. He isn't JC though.

As for Weber, even though he didn't have the greatest numbers last year, Wheelright is going to be good. He was a freshman who shouldn't have seen the floor, but injuries happen. Nothing like Lillard, but then again, will any Utah school see a Lillard type player right away or ever? He ended the season solid. Also, Weber has its reserve PG Jordan Richardson, and starting SG Scott Bamforth (the same one who limited Medlin to 9pts and scored 28) back. Not to mention, a healthy Frank Otis, who when healthy is pretty damn good, and the best center in the Sky in Kyle Tresnak. Kyle came along great last year. Since I mentioned Shaw, who sat out last year, it is only fitting if I can now mention Berry. I know there isn't a lot of respect being shown to Berry who was a DII All-American as a Sophmore, but he is good. Also, I would wager our Freshman additions are as good as USUs. Sooo.

Finally, the BYU game last year. Two starters were injured, Tres's was playing with a back injury and the flu, as way Hajek (flu), Lillard (flu), Richardson (flu), Mahoney (calf/flu), and Bamforth (flu). Kinda hard to beat a team win they are 100% and your team isn't anywhere near 50%. It happens.

I went up to the High School tournament at USU this year and got to catch pick up games a few nights. It had some of the high school kids mixed in so it was somewhat hard to gauge USU's players but Reed looked awesome. For USU I think we know that Medlin is going to be awesome...and we know that Reed can be really good but he can also be mediocre. He needs to be more consistent. As far as the newcomers go they've all shown that they can be really good but like you said before, we thought the same thing last year and it's really hard to know until you see them in a real game situation. I will agree with you that there is a big separation in the state right now in basketball...it's kind of fun to group Utah with UVU and SUU but that may be putting them too high. I have no doubt that Rahe will find a way to make Weber competitive this coming year. I really think you'll see a much better Aggie team this coming year as well. Last year we had a ton of talent to replace where this year we should be able to build on top of what was started last year.

Nice...Did you get a chance to watch Stutzman play? Was Parsons up there too? I'm fairly certain that both made unofficial visits to Weber in the last month, but I didn't get to watch them play, so I'm kinda interested to get some feed back on how well they did against DI competition.

I agree with you about the Ags. I think they will be better next year too. Stew did a good job of recruiting in the Spring. To be fair, USU should have been better than they were last Fall. USU lost a handful of players that they were depending on (Walker III, Bumpus, and Arnold), and then losing Jardine to injury didn't help matters. I'm hoping that USU doesn't have another foot injury this year. I know Bendall and Jardine and to have them both end their careers with similar foot injuries was awful. Nonetheless, Shaw and Reed should compliment each other and it is exactly what Stew likes. Two dependable bigs who force opposing defenses to play a zone or a straight up man to man. Also, looks like the Ags have improved their outside shooting, which makes Stew's system that much harder to defend. I think there will be some early bumps and bruises for the Ags, but by the time the conference season starts Stew should have a well oiled machine. I envision a somewhat similar thing in Ogden. It is nice having three starters back with the other two starters having a year of playing within the system under their belts. Wheels stats might not be that impressive, but he was sharing time with Lillard and Bamforth. I'm just hoping for an injury free season. I don't know much about the new guys, but the guys the Cats have coming back are going to be solid. Our two Freshmen should be excellent players, I don't know about the JCs. We will see.

I didn't see Stutzman or Parsons play at all in the high school match-ups...I spent most of the day watching my little brother play for Timpview and they never met up. Stutzman played a few of the pickup games at night but he didn't really stay long enough to get any perception of him. I don't know who Parsons is.

It's funny that you mention USU and their foot injuries. Shaw was in a boot while I was up there. Stew told me that he'd probably be out a full month but last I heard he is playing now. Hopefully it doesn't become a bigger problem though.
