Big Cat is Back!

Pielstick!!??

Sorry SH. Mattice?

You got me in stitches.

If there ever was a need for new blood, now is it.

Choosing another Sac State AD admin lifer is just same-o, same-o.

At least Volek will get butts in seats and his personality will at least make a positive difference on an otherwise dismal 2016-2017 athletic year. He even made national news with PAM and he should hit them up for sponsorship rights.

"re-up my contributions to the Hornet athletics"...

I'm sure they are having a meeting today to figure out how to spend that hundred bucks

Nailed it.

BTW good call on going with the “no resources” excuse. That worked out well for you…and Macriss. Glad Nelsen saw through that weak ass bullshit just as easily as I did. :coffee:

Troy Taylor just took over as the OC for Utah. This is a nice stepping stone for a potential head-coaching job as we all see there is a potential for an opening at Sac State at the end of next season. One can only dream of what he can bring to this program.

I've pitched Troy Taylor's name for a few years on this very site back when he was still co-HC at Folsom. Unfortunately, the Hornets missed the boat on that one as they'd have no shot to attract him now. It was a small window of opportunity that has surely closed by now.

But you guys can see how right I was by his quick ascension from Folsom to Eastern Washington to Utah.

I don't think Volek should not do any hiring or firing as long as he is interim AD. The last thing we need is to be saddled with more poorly thought out hires, extensions or experiments. Let the new permanent AD make the decision, at least if it don't work out we will know who to hold responsible.

Seriously joe football ... How do you know he is even interested in this job? He is your constant answer but is he interested?

Does anyone think any HC move is going to happen? Signing day is just a few weeks away and spring ball right after that ... They completely blew their window...

Not a fair assessment. EWU was good before Taylor got there, I guess you can argue that he made them better but it doesn't take a genius to develop a game plan that consists of throwing it to the most dominate FCS WR in the last 2 years (and possibly best FCS WR ever) in a conference full of weak defenses.

Had he been here, he would have been handed a stud RB in Robinson, a terrible OL, a below average QB and below average WRs. If he could have squeezed out 5+ wins with that group then it would be very impressive.

Taylor was a right place, right time kinda thing with EWU...much like Sears was right place right time with Safron-Carter to parlay that into an extension. We'll see what Taylor can really do now that he is playing with the big boys.

I'm cool with Volek cleaning house in the admin and letting the next guy (assuming it's not him) fill the vacancies. The next guy can pull the trigger on coaching decisions.

Taylor would not have had to deal with the complete dysfunction introduced on the offensive side from the building... No skill players could've had success behind that offensive line so your opinion on the skill players being below average is way off

Plus a defense that gives up 527.5 yards per game completely changes the way an opposing defense plays your offense ...

Speaking of weak-ass bullshit...meaning your response to almost everything... Macriss and Sears are both still here...no contracts were bought out...and there won't be. Just as I stated earlier.
Have you gone by and dropped off your $100 yet, Mr. act-like-a-big-time booster?

Wait…

…so Macriss gives Sears a 3 year extension (not three 1 year deals like you claimed via PM) for bottom dollar followed by Sears promptly dragging Hornet FB back to dumpster fire status…

…Macriss then sits on his hands and does nothing to address Sears’ failure because “no resources”…

…then Nelsen demotes Macriss to a newly created "executive" associate AD position that requires resources…

…and hires an interim AD which requires more resources…

…who is going to conduct a nationwide search which requires even more resources…

…but because Macriss and Sears are both still on payroll you are somehow right and your “no resources” excuse miraculously holds water even though even more resources are being used to execute this whole debacle…

:? :dunce:

Okay, whatever you say Baghdad Bob.

Nice article on Volek in the bee today..Clearly he wants to bring back some passion to the campus.

After the success the program had in year one, Sears received a new deal amending the original year-to-year series of contracts. When Gonzo left, Macriss also had a two year deal. When Nelsen arrived he inherited both contract commitments. As those contracts get closer to expiration the new president now has a chance to move forward without backlash form the Academic Senate and the portion of the faculty who do not support football or athletics. It would have been unprecedented and political suicide for the new president to show up and immediately eat hundreds of thousands of dollars in contracts in athletics, but that is outside your scope of knowledge. The new Macriss contract nullifies the original AD deal. You have no idea what resources were used for the 90-day Volek deal and you have even less information on what will happen next with him.
You have never played a down, coached one minute or worked in an athletic administration position at Sac State, yet you have yourself convinced you know better than those who have and you have a couple of posters on this site fooled. You are like the guy who watches porn, can't ever get laid, but has himself convinced he knows everything about sex.
Instead of trying to help the university solve problems you hide behind your keyboard and post inaccurate information...remember when you told everyone I was wrong about the NCAA violations/probation?
You don't have the sack to say what you say on this site to anyone face-to-face and your paltry financial contributions don't even leave a ripple on the pond.
Continue to enjoy your insignificance and ignorance.

On a lighter note it appears that in spite of the athletic director move the dual head coach situation will live ... High school head coaches , recruiters and trainers are getting the word of what's going on and it will probably be up to the next contract to repair the damage

Looks like I hit a nerve. 8-)

BTW I have told folks face to face about how I feel about the direction of the athletic department (including Nelsen while at Reno for the BSCT last year). I also tell them that there are many hard-working people within the department that do good things and it’s because of their efforts that I still bother to cut checks to Hornet athletics. I don’t contribute anywhere near what I use to, in fact this 16-17 athletic year will be the lowest I contribute since I started doling out the dough for Hornet athletics almost a decade ago.

As far as the personal attacks go, if you knew anything about me you would know that I don't sweat that weak game of yours.
