Big Cat Retires

Only 64, bet he was nicely asked to retire. I can only speculate that the CC district office is 'retiring' many admins to make way for lesser paid replacements. Sac State Chief of Police just announced his retirement too, coincidence? Get out of the system while the gettin's good.

I enjoyed Volek offenses (Ray, Roberts, etc.) but his biggest downfall was keeping unqualified assistants on staff year after year.

Here's to you Big Cat, last Sac State coach to win a football conference title, stay thirsty my friend.

I agree 100%. Misplaced loyalty was his downfall.

Obviously the man has charisma and organizational/motivational skills, why not hire him to fundraise for Sac State athletics while in his 'retirement'.

I think the mancat would do a tremendous job in leading a capital campaign for Sac State. Seriously.

He has done wonders at Sierra and has a very strong Auburn/Placer fanbase and supporters.

The University has a Placer satellite campus. Mancat could fund raise and help build the mothership on J Street, while also generating goodwill/support in the backyard of satellite Sac State 2.

A satellite campus? That's news. A great idea. I'd like to see a south campus, perhaps in Lodi. But let's get the Placer one done first. LOL.

Where have you been the past 8-9 years? The Placer site has been in the works ever since the old man retired and Dr. Gonzalez was appointed.

From what I recall a wealthy alum passed on and left a plot of land to Sac State. I vaguely recall reading an article about it when I was a student. The plan was/is to develop that into a satellite campus. Sac State also owns a plot of land across HWY 50 which is supposed to be developed into off campus housing for faculty.

Billionaire Eli Broad donated the Placer land and cash to build the Broad Athletic Facility. The Placer campus would be similar to the satellite campus San Diego State has which would house limited departments.

You are correct on the land by Hwy 50, the plan is to build University Village a self sufficient housing development and retail geared predominately for faculty and students. The thinking was that the developer who builds out University Village would also provide seed money to build the arena. But the economy tanked and housing prices plunged. University Village was supposed to provide below market value homes to faculty and staff. The new School of Nursing is also in that area.

I went back into the Navy in Y2K, and I'm not on any mailing lists. Perhaps that should change.

How can you be Super Hornet and not be on any mailing lists? :tothehand:
Update your alumni info stat, you can do it online.
