Big Sky admits wrong penalty call - Game winning TD

Looks like officials from the conference admit that the illegal block that cost us the game, was the wrong call. Lobato's TD to P-Walk would have given us the win with a successful PAT. Fullerton really needs to take a hard look at the officials in this conference. Collins had to be restrained from the officials at the end of the game. Next time he sees them he out to just kick their asses. SUCH BULLSHIT.

Always hate to lose with a call like that, unfortunately bad calls are a part of the game. Good thing it didn't cost us a playoff spot!

Hey you all bitch and moan about the season but, how do you think the seniors feel about this season they will remember this for the rest of their lives and if they could have had one win i'm pretty sure it would have made a huge difference to them!!! So before you all start bitching you don't have to live with that horrible feeling of loosing your entire senior year and probably the last season that these seniors will play football.

I agree. One win sounds a lot better than zero wins. I'm still pissed off about this and if I were Collins I would want the league to make that asshole official never suits up again. Fire his ass!

I was at the game and I was devestated and I felt really bad for the entire team. And I was glad to see Collins go after the ref. It shows some fire and gets the rest of us fired up. Yes it sucked for everyone but we will be ready to kick ass again come next fall Go Bears !

If it was a big deal to those seniors they would have worked a lot harder throughout their careers. I know the coaching staff throughout the last 4 years has been atrocious but plenty of that blame has to go to the players. Some games they got blown out, yet some games they hung in there with pretty good teams. That shows me that they had a lack of passion and fire week in and week out and I guarantee that also applied to their training regimen throughout the off-season. Those guys showed up to games expecting to lose, they might have said to each other and the media that they expected to win but, deep down, each and every one of them expected this outcome.

jjjj have you ever been through a collegiate football program, have you witnessed what the players go through during the offseason, have you seen what they do to prepare every week? my guess is not because if you know what they go through and all the work they put in it's crazy to think that they expect to loose every week? so you can stop talking shit about the players and their motivations.

Yeah I read this admission earlier and it made me sick to my stomach. Pathetic it the only word. You put all that effort in and some moron with a hidden bias just looking for any reason possible to screw us over because we get zero respect can decide it like that. We rightfully should have won that game and 1 win to me is a million times more beneficial than an 0-11 season. The worst part is this official wasn't mentioned by name and certainly will be retained by the conference. Also, the other officials, and mostly the referee all let the call stand and nobody spoke up and tried to reverse it at the time. How about have a little pow wow on the field and see what everyone saw and make sure you are correct before you take a daggar to our heart? Nah, it's easier to just screw us over and jog to the locker room because "hey, it's just UNC they suck anyway."

I'd be less frustrated if we didn't always seem to get the terrible breaks. These type of things never seem to go in our favor. There is a lesson there but after 8 years of getting kicked in the balls it's gotten old.

I'd feel better if the call was legit, at least then it was in our hands and we dropped it, but this is much worse.

I actually appreciate the Big Sky doing this. They could easily sweep it under the rug but they didn't.

I wonder if they will do anything about it though.

“We absolutely are concerned when this happens, and it is vital that we be able to honestly evaluate ourselves,’’Fullertonsaid. “That call was incorrect, and it cost Northern Colorado the tying touchdown. We don’t normally speak about officiating, but this mistake came at a critical juncture in the contest and greatly affected the outcome of the game. Unfortunately, there is nothing now that can be done to reverse the call. We are apologetic when these mistakes happen, as they do during the course of any athletic season.’’

damn. Seems like the season could at least have an asterisk after the stats.

Whenever you are embroiled in a close game, an official's decision can and a lot of times will be the difference in the game.

Secret is to work harder, improve, eliminate mistakes and things that are in your control to put your team in a good enough position that an officials call or two does not make the difference in the game.

Of course that is advice for an organization that is striving to be champions, not one that is just hoping to win a game or two.
