Big Sky Change?

It's now official, the Big Sky announced SUU & UTU are joining the conference in 2026. I like a Utah trio in the footprint of the BSC myself from a fan's standpoint. The present relevance in state, the high majors BYU, Utah, the high mid-majors of Utah State, perhaps in the media's mind, UVU...& the low mid majors of WSU, SUU, UTU are it, like it or not. Of course, in football the state's 3 FCS teams will be together in a strong conference at that level, which is fine by me.

Maybe the near future will change that...change is the norm.

Well, good for golf and softball retaining automatic bids with the expansion. I guess the Big Sky chose to overlook SUU’s desertion since all the idiots at the helm at that time are gone. UTU gets a good opportunity to elevate athletics.

It should really spice things up and generate some increased attendance and travel in state. I’m kind of surprised UVU hasn’t tried to add football. They have the most enrollment in the state and probably not everyone could afford to attend BYU games.

You could make the case that Idaho State, Northern Colorado, NAU, SUU, and UTU would all consider Weber State their main rival. That’s almost half the conference. It should add a lot of competition and make sense travel and finance-wise…so welcome back and welcome aboard.
