Folks,
Interesting article in the Spokesman Review today from our Big Sky Commissioner. I like that we negotiated UTU & USU having to play 8 conference games vs. everyone else having 9. Saves us from having to find a 4th non-conference game.

Over the last couple of years, the FBS conferences of the West have seen their membership change significantly as leagues cannibalized each other across the college football landscape.

Glad to welcome Utah Tech into Big Sky. It may increase the chance to win a Football, Mens BB and Womens BB games. Last season at the DII level their Football team went 1-11and are picked to finish 9th this upcoming season in their DII league. They played 3 Big sky teams in OOC play and got smeared. In Mens Basketball, at the DII level, they went 7-26 while the Womens Basketall, at the DII level, they went 6-25. They are called the Trailblazer with a Bison as the mascot. Cool

Thx oldrunner, I had been reading about them and must have misunderstood when exactly they changed their affiliation. good stuff

Utah Tech is the former Dixie State. They were a good D2 team but haven't done much of anything since moving to d1. I think this is their 5th year in FCS. Things get a little confusing due to their name change. I assume it hurt their marketability in the West as "Dixie State" implies that it'd be South of the Mason-Dixon.
