Preseason polls are hard to gauge. Obviously the coaches know what they are doing when they vote as they have every bit of info possible at their finger tips. I have no qualms with this vote. Here is how I would rank the preseason BSC:

  • 1. UM (until proven otherwise)
    2. MSU (they return a lot on both sides of the ball and should contend)
    3. EWU (they always find people to produce, if they get it going offensively they will contend)
    4. NAU (they can contend for the conference crown if they can win games in the later part of the season)
    5. Sac State (with a lot of returners at the skilled positions, we need to produce results this season)
    6. WSU (I think they just lost too much on offense to contend)
    7. UNC (if they can get solid QB play along with a decent defense they won't be half bad)
    8. PSU (I don't think they will be nearly as bad as last season but is still a young team)
    9. ISU (they lost a lot at their skilled positions and lack talent)

I am definitely looking forward to this season. There is a lot of unknowns up in the air and I think anything is possible for any team. This season BSC play should be entertaining.

I anticipate and expect a 7-4 finish for the Hornets. Where that pans out in league placement is to be determined on the field. Polls every year are strongly based on where that program ended the year before, which is not usually accurate.

Yup. Its like why even do them? This has been the exact pattern for the past 4 years that I can think of.

I still say 15-0.

ROFL.

Well, that's my dream, anyway.

I think 8-3 is realistic, though. If we have one loss, it'll be either Stanford or Montana (and I give more credence to Montana due to the positioning of the game in the schedule). If we have two losses, it'll be both of those. If three, then the third will come from among EWU and NAU. I just don't see anybody else on the schedule beating us. We have too much firepower for the FE right now, too.

They'll see within two weeks what hogwash this is.

in 2008 weber was picked 5th and took 1st and got the autobid. wsu had 4 preseason all-conf players. wsu finished with 12 and only 3 of the 4 preseason picks made it.

im not to concerned with the preseason polls (especially in bball). weber vs sac in sept will be a huge game for us.

Wildcat - Weber-Sac is ALWAYS huge. Not to the degree of Causeway, perhaps, but it's always guaranteed to be a good game with good fans on both sides. The only time I was upset at a Weber-Sac game was when SAC players spit on a Wildcat. Of course, I was biased because he was a former UOP teammate of mine....

As I say every year...these polls mean nothing because its not where you start, its where you finish! GO HORNETS!
This is true. It's why the games are played.
