Big Sky Free Agents

Lexington Smith was one of 9 Big Sky players who have either signed a free agent contract or invited to an NFL camp. Good job big guy.

Some UNC folks find it easy to poke fun at the RMAC. Given the lack of gridiron accomplishments, that's understandable. But maybe things have changed. The D2 Denfending National Champions reside in the RMAC.

In only a few years, the T-Wolves have placed a couple players on NFL rosters. One in Baltimore, the other in Green Bay. After this past weekend, perhaps one or two more former T-Wolves will be added to NFL rosters. Not bad for a D2 team from the lowly RMAC.

Perhaps things will turn for UNK in the not too distant future. Cheers!

While I absolutely despise the consistent veiled trolling, it does bring up a serious point to consider-

CSU-P had 2 UDFA signings and 3 mini camp invites with their most recent class. All UNC was able to manage was the much deserved UDFA signing of Lex.

Is this more of and indication of poor recruiting by this staff or more of an indication of poor player development by this staff? By most, if not all, measurements the UNC recruiting classes would rank well above all their D2 counterparts in the RMAC, yet CSU-P has 5 players and UNC only has one player getting an opportunity to prove themselves at the next level. Personally, I believe it reflects a serious lack of ability by this coaching staff to develop players to their potential or beyond.

I agree. It's probably a lack of both recruiting and player development. I think men's basketball suffers from the same fate though. BJ is a good recruiter but horrible at developing talent. That being mentioned, one more poor year with this staff and we will have a new staff that can recruit AND develop. I'm hoping Wristen is a Bear come this time of year next season.

In our inept rush to not hire the best candidate for what should be the signature program of our university. ......we missed the boat on Coach Wristen and other qualified applicants a few years ago. Here's to the belief that as a Division I University, we will do the right thing!
