Big Sky Media Day

Well, so far things are looking ho-hum for the Cats. None of our players made the preseason all-conference team. I guess, that is to be expected after three 2 win seasons in a row. However, we all know there are guys who are a lot better than what is being billed. Guys who I think could have made the preseason all-conference team are below.

Joe Hawkins (3 year starter and will be our center this season; got robbed. He should have been on it)
Cam Livingston
Zach Smith (a bit of a stretch, but he will be one of the top backs in the Sky)
Emmett Tela
Josh Burton
Jake Gallegos

Also, all Big Sky Schools will have instant replay.

Four other schools didn't have a player on the preseason team either, so doesn't hurt as bad if you consider that. ISU led with six. :shocking: Man, how times have changed. It kills me to know that the Preseason Defensive MVP is from our backyard (Fruit Heights). Here's hoping Coach Hill doesn't allow that to happen again. It's about time replay was instituted. :thumb:

I like that list! I'd add one more...Josh Kealamakia. I think he has got to be one of the most under-rated kickers in FCS. I like his chances of having an amazing senior season.

I'm not to shocked about the preseason all-conference selections. That was going to happen based off of our recent performance, but, the Sky should be prepare. Weber is going to be a lot tougher this year. Let's quickly review last season. Weber was competitive in every game. Weber was 10 TOs (Ugh!!) away from having a +.500 season. Also, we return a lot of players from last years team.

Offense returning starters: Zach Smith RB, Jadrian Clark QB, Cameron Livingston WR, Drew Batchelor WR, Cameron Young OG, AJ Wilcox OT, Justin Turner OT, Joe Hawkins C, Helam Heimuli TE. I'm guessing Connor Shannon OG and Darryl Denby WR will be the other starters.

I don't even know what to expect on defense, but for some reason, I think we will be much improved on that side of the ball.

Can't be much worse than what we saw last year.

Well, it kinda makes sense why weberstatesports.com hasn't put up the story yet. Not something you'd really want to publish. Coach Hill will definitely be able to use this to motivate his team and staff.

Really though, could the Cats be any higher in the preseason polls, based on last years results?

Positives to build on??

I'll start the ball rolling, 25 players on missions.

 Amen!

Starters on defense could be,

Jake Gallegos and McKay Murphy DT's
Vince Coleman and John Carlson DE's
Legrand Toia, Alema Key, and Emmett Tela LB's
Cordero Dixon and Taron Johnson CB's
Mitch Tulane and Josh Burton FS/S

Nice job by Brandon with this story. Coach Hill really likes the linebackers. I watched the interview coach had with the Big Sky and was quite shocked by some of the things he said. He says our secondary and, once again, highlighted our linebackers. Maybe our defense will be really good this year. He also talked about our skill players on the offensive side of the ball. Nothing about OL or QB. We all know the OL should be good, but QB?
