Big Sky Meetings Begin Today

Big Sky Conference presidents and ADs are meeting in North Dakota this week, beginning today. We should be hearing something official on the conference tournaments soon. I believe the vote on whether the conference should continue to explore changing the format (all 12 teams) and going to a pre-determined site (probably Vegas) is scheduled for Thursday.

I heard a report on a Phoenix station that the WAC AD's are split 4-4 about moving their basketball tournament from Vegas to Phoenix. One of the main reasons is because of poor attendance. They said there is no guarantee it would be better in Phoenix, but it would be played at Grand Canyon's arena, probably at a better price. Grand Canyon isn't eligible for another few years for the tournament, so it would still be a neutral floor. It's probably the same deal as the Sky's, in that the presidents will make the final decision.

This is what the Southpoints arena looks like for basketball. I say if you are going to have the fans that far away from the court you might as well have it at Holt Arena. At least you guys have some bleachers closer to the action and you light up the court.

Done! See you in March!

There's a website which allows you to calculate the geographic center of several locations.

Put in the 12 Big Sky cities, and guess what?

Let me zoom it in for you.

Makes sense to me. We should push for the tournament to be played nearest the geographic center! :geek:

It's not like the Dee is much better (if any) in that regard. If, for some reason, courtside seating is what matters, then Dahlberg would be the way to go.
